At first I thought they were flying but now they look like they are attached to something in the parking lot. I also see what appears to be a school bus falling off a building. I swear I'm not on crack right now.

The building is between Washington and Delmar and not quite two blocks west of 14th.

Before I came upon the UFO, I was thinking how cool all these new buildings will look once the earth maps are updated. Thinking of all the roof top swimming pools, you don't see many in the area right now.

Thank you Urban Elitist for identifying my UFO. Must look strange to birds flying above.

I think they updated them sometime this last spring. This time last year, I remember still seeing the TWA Dome on Google Maps/Earth. Now, it has the Edward Jones Dome

Had a Ventana walk thru. Excellent progress. My unit has nearly all work completed. LOVE the entry doorway.

Can someone PLEASE tell me (Someone who has seen the windows inside) how they would plan on putting window shades on? There is no space above the Windows (These are huge windows, going ALL the way to the ceiling). The windows themselves cover almost 40 feet of continous space.

PLUS, if someone knows someone who can install shades and curtains, I'd like to know.

I was talking to someone who has a loft in Knickerbockers. They went through a custom designer for their Window shades and should get back to me with their names. Will post it once I know about it.

I was warned that the "custom" option would be expensive. I am still trying to see if I can find some way to do it myself.

I have used "Two Blind Guys" for custom shades in two lofts now and have no problem recommending them. My last shades ran about $175 for each window installed. They were Hunter Douglas roller shades and are great for getting that seamless contemporary look. I also know someone in the loft distric that makes custom curtains and prices are very reasonable and the work is excellent. They use conduit (cheap and fits the style) for the curtain rods and then tailors the fabric. PM me if you want their number.

Please post the phone numbers. I have been told that the Ventana should be completed by Feb. and think I would need them around then.

Appreciate it.

Andy with Two Blind Guys is 636.219.5727

You'll have to PM me for the girl who makes custom curtains. I'm not sure she wants me to post her number publicly.

Someone who would not publicity for the business??? :)

I will PM you. Thanks for the info....

Just thought I will mention that the Ventana lower space (first floor) is mainly taken up by the indoor parking (that's where the new garage is). The overall Retail space will be much smaller than was anticipated.

Next Walkthru is Nov 29. Hope to see the usual crowd there.

PostNov 30, 2006#215

For those who missed the WalkThu on Nov 29th, the new BIG change is that balconies have been put on the L lofts.

Rooftop pool looks awesome and is going to have heating capabilities.

Basic cable is provided in Association dues. No internet access at this time, but Jacob Dev is looking into internet capabilities through electrical outlets (plug in your router to any electric outlet and you will have internet access). This is to be achieved by clamping Fiber Optics to Electrical cables (do not have technical details). I hope they can get this done.

Rooftop club house looks good.

I recently viewed the Ventana lofts and just have to say that they are fantastic. By far the best lofts I have seen downtown. Kudos to the design team/architects.

Did you go up to their display unit? I was amazed at how beautiful Washington looks at night from 7 floors up, looking east.

Yeah. It's awesome. I have to say that I am so impressed with the more west end of Washington near the Ventana and Ely Walker. The buildings are beautiful and huge and intact.....really stunning down there.

Yup. Now, my parents are looking at Ely.

I agree that this block has a lot of potential now, as long as we get a lot of residents in all the buildings (another year?)

Every building in that area is full or almost full except Ventana and Ely. I'm at Railway and I've noticed a huge difference in the level of activity over the past 18 months. Once Ventana and Ely are occupied and the first floor retail fills up in all of the buildings (including the new grocery store on 14th), the place should be amazing.

Amen to that. Went to the Rams fiasco last night. Parked near the Ventana. After the game, the crowds were till 14th, and really had no foot traffic between 14th and 17th. Once these 2 buildings fill up, we should be good to go from the activity perspective.

Got a letter from Jacob Dev. They want to start closing starting Jan 15th. That's aggressive deadlines, but they claim they can meet them.

just wondering 0, loftguy, why are you deciding to move out of The Ventana especially since it is so close to closing time already? was there another loft building you decided to consider or perhaps even moving out of the city? just curious...

also, does anyone have any idea the order of who will be closing? i'm on the 4th floor so i figured since the units on the higher floors are completed first then i won't probably close until maybe towards of end of january.

I think they will start closing from 7th floor (which they claim is completed) down.

I am on the sixth floor and I "think" will be closing with the 7th floor.
