Looks like “Crazy Cheese” will be opening up in the OG Caruso’s spot

More smart lights is not biggest investment that could be made but every little thing matters and improves. For all the ups and downs it seems like downtown could put together a streak if city gets a handle on perception of public safety considering a revived Arch Grounds & return of people travelling, to new MLS stadium moving along, to Square moving downtown/NOW District, to Convention Center breaking ground on upgrades in near future, possible 2CW announcement to Cardinals rocking it if they get into post season.
So outside of public safety issue that we could discuss forever. What would be the next best thing that could happen? I honestly think City & Business leadership need a vision and make a push to remove raised section of Freeway between Wash Ave & Cass if infrastructure bill passes. That would be as big to near north side/Landing as is removing remnants of old 22nd parkway for a new MLS stadium/street grid and west downtown. With NGA, upgraded Convention and the possibilities of NOW/Geospatial District is a huge long term potential waiting to happen

Another 500 LED lights have been installed in downtown St. Louis, part of a push to replace all 2,300 cobra-head lights in the neighborhood.

Weekly Wednesday night market on Wash Ave between Tucker and 14th. Close the street. Let restaurants set up in the street and bring 20-25 vendors offering various products.
Whisky on Washington had their grand opening tonight and it was packed inside and outside. Great to see so many people on Washington Ave. the owner is a middle school principal, so he’s all about the rules, at 10:00pm he put away the patio seating (permitted until 10:00) because he knows the racist crew from Citizens for Greater(whiter) Downtown would be on him for the slightest hiccup
I think this is a great idea.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 25, 2021Weekly Wednesday night market on Wash Ave between Tucker and 14th. Close the street. Let restaurants set up in the street and bring 20-25 vendors offering various products.
^ God bless local news. Comfortably tweeted from their Maryland Heights news room...

I saw no excitement tempered as i walked around downtown- it was the worlds happiest AARP convention
I’m a super critic of my new Downtown but this weekend was a chill weekend. It actually felt good to see a lot of people walking. The underage groups still a problem not as bad though. But the Taste of STL, The Social at BPV, and concert kept DT busy.
Only problem I saw DT is the homeless always leaving a mess at Poelker Park in front of City Hall and dealing and using drugs.
Did it felt a little bit better this weekend of course! I think if the push continues we can get there before year end.

This is great! More restaurants and nice bars with new concepts and less nightclubs! I went ahead and asked them about 1801 Wash Ave lol… Second try so let’s see if they reply.pattimagee wrote:

I can’t find topic on Food Trucks!
But anyways!!
I have a few friends that want to bring that concept into the city (Not suburbs) but they’re telling me its very difficult to obtain the permits.
If this is true the city needs to make it easier on small businesses trying to bring revenue to the city. Doesn’t make sense to me.

I stayed Downtown two Saturdays ago. The Cards were in town playing the Padres. I tried the Loews - sold out. Tried Hotel St. Louis - sold out. So wound up at the Embassy Suites on Washington, which seemed really busy with large groups and families coming and going. Downtown's hospitality industry definitely seems to be getting back on track.
Nice! The construction in front of my apartment at the Shell Building seem to be doing ok. I was able to see from my window how its looking inside and its getting there. About 4 of the top floors seem to be almost done. Not furnished but construction wise.wabash wrote:I stayed Downtown two Saturdays ago. The Cards were in town playing the Padres. Are you talking about a permanent food truck garden like 9 Mile Garden in Affton? Or just roaming food trucks in general?JJ Rivera wrote: ↑Sep 28, 2021I can’t find topic on Food Trucks!

I understand that obtaining permits in the city is often problematic, not just food trucks. For the record, here's the city page on the process.

Thanks! A few friends mentioned both but two of them were talking about roaming regular food trucks. They even mentioned whenever they close Washington Avenue on weekends put Food Trucks in the middle of the avenue and do a night market/food truck park. Or do something similar to 6th Street in Austin.rbb wrote:Are you talking about a permanent food truck garden like 9 Mile Garden in Affton? Yeah I know food trucks have set up in parks in the City (Tower Grove has regular food truck nights), on the riverfront along Lenore K Sullivan, and at the Old Post Office Plaza downtown, so it's certainly not unprecedented.JJ Rivera wrote: ↑Sep 28, 2021Thanks! ^Is the Media Noche significantly smaller than the Cuban? $4.50 for a bread upgrade seems like a lot.

I’d pay $4.5 for the bread that they use. It’s amazing and it’s flown here from Tampa Bay

I was just going to say that! Its Authentic Cuban bread brought from Florida.

City Garden had trucks very frequently pre-pandemic. I think the workers will need to come back to office before they start making it a regular again.rbb wrote: ↑Sep 28, 2021Yeah I know food trucks have set up in parks in the City (Tower Grove has regular food truck nights), on the riverfront along Lenore K Sullivan, and at the Old Post Office Plaza downtown, so it's certainly not unprecedented.JJ Rivera wrote: ↑Sep 28, 2021Thanks! Just read this!
In addition to Cortex, Westway also will operate 75,000 square feet of SCIF space in downtown St. Louis’ Globe Building, which has already lured in several geospatial firms.
120,000 sq feet building to be built at Cortex and this 75,000 SCIF to open at the Global Building!!! Nice!!!!
