We were talking the other day and you mentioned to move the clubs to the landing but I just read this morning that there’s 3 residential developments happening there so it’ll be difficult.

It would be nice if STL created like a Nightclub district like Miami and Tampa’s Ybor City.

Do like a City Foundry but with different types of Clubs.

The same band of losers that downtown1999 and 2007 belong to is now harassing black owned businesses at 14th and Washington.  One held a private fundraiser for his wife that is dying on cancer and these idiots tried to report it as operating illegally
They also try to play dirty tricks like signing a petition for liquor license then showing up to the hearing and trying to retract the signature so the biz owner doesn’t have enough …..there is so much more to this, names and everything will drop soon. It’s all disgusting, these losers are killing downtown
it may very well be disgusting, but they're not what's killing downtown.

^ tell that to the developer that’s got most of the properties in this area of 14th and Wash, he’s invested millions just to see half his tenant harnessed just because they’re black and have a black client base. What incentives does he have to keep investing?

Day time racing (really just stupid driving) was an issue last summer but it hasn’t been bad in downtown latetly, even the hoosier bike gang from this past weekend that did some wheelies was the first I’ve been in a long time down here

McCormack Baron Salazar moving to 100 N Broadway from its current digs in the Laclede Gas building.

https://www.stltoday.com/business/local ... 184fa.html

The article mentions that a lot of the office tenants in the Laclede Building have left, but iirc didn't Hayden buy Laclede Gas to convert it into residential?

Last article I found it said it was trying to turn a few of the floors into residential. But that was back in 2014! So who knows lol…

I was on the bandwagon of eventually almost everyone will go back to the office as covid is an afterthought but now I’m thinking about 50% will go back to the office.  Workers are in control for the first time in a long time when it comes to work and they’re not going to stay at a place that makes them come in and CEOs are going to notice that and will lead to more and more allowing permanent WFH.    I went to my west county office on Thursday, 7 of 35 people there and we are fully open and 100% vaccinated. Downtown has been slowly trending from a place where mostly people worked (80/20) to some work, some living and some play and I think this accelerated where downtown will be 50% workers and 50% residents

^ My company opened a brand new office downtown in July, and I've yet to step foot in it. Even though it will be only about a 20 minute commute, that still saves me money on gas. I get some compensation for my utilities if I choose to work from home, too. Those who do go into the office still have to wear a mask inside at all times, and meeting rooms have had all video conferencing technology removed since they determined that employees are more engaged if they are using their laptop camera rather than a meeting room camera. Plus, I'm the only St. Louisan on my particular team, so I honestly have no incentive to go in. I've heard from other coworkers who've decided to occasionally work in the office that the place is pretty dead, which is also not great for safety in numbers when having to walk to and from the parking lot.

I personally still think 5 years from now it will be pretty close to what it was 2 years ago. You already have big companies saying people have to come back in. It will start 2 or 3 days a week. Then slowly inch up until it’s back like it was.

Will it happen for everyone, no, but I think a majority will.

I also am curious to see how these coastal companies who say they will pay workers based on where they live work out. What percentage of workers go with the pay cut to not go back into their NYC office.

I have a friend in the DC area who has coworkers who moved away thinking they wouldn’t ever have to go back into the office and now they are being recalled. They said they moved and the workplace told them they either move back or they will be let go.

People saying they will quit before they go back in is all well and good until the workplace calls their bluff. Some I’m sure can quit and have other options but I’m not sure what percentage that truly is.

Over the summer a $500,000 interior alterations permits was issued for the former Fashion Fund space.

Based on what I see/read/hear from executives, a cautionary tale for fully remote workers: if you think you can do your work fully remote from Idaho or Colorado, there is someone in Bangalore who can do it for a tenth of the cost (and probably working harder).

I’m not convinced we’ll return to even 75% of 2019 in office work. Most of my friends (myself included) have either secured remote at their current firms or have found new jobs that will.

I haven’t been in an office in 22 months. I’m healthier and happier for it.

As a planner who loves growing downtowns and central business districts, I’m no longer willing to sacrifice my happiness to support the downtown office economy. I’d rather downtowns focus on being livable so people choose to be there vs forced to be there.

I second that! I’ve been TW for over 18 months! Firm will not go overseas for professional positions. Most firms are not call centers. Downtown should focus as a 75% Residential urban and 25% office/retail. I’m willing to accept 60/40 😆

It’s incredible to me that Jack can throw such massive claims while being the only elected official responsible for championing most of downtown.

Recently spent a lot of time with media bashing downtown including the below article where he suggest the dome and vacant office buildings should be considered for demolition…

Fashion find space looks like it’s being subdivided into offices.

Run more exciting news the space at 1529 Washington has some construction activity along with the space in the white two story building next door. The spaces have been connected.

2 story white building is just 4 walls and a roof. I’ve heard it’s going to be a pool or maybe a pool for art lofts

I’m sorry! Just watch the news and Reign had another shooting! Owner owes a lot of money on rent and my friends barbershop its been affected! And they minority owned so no race excuse there! One business is the biggest problem DT and it needs to be shut down!! Any other city would’ve closed this place down a long time ago! I also spoke to a few of the residents as I live close to the club and they’re not happy and want it closed as well…

If you’re going to reply on this message keep politics aside this is a safety and security problem not a political debate.

One thing you will notice is St. Louis  city leaders are really slow to act on any thing. Also there is a hearing on there liquor license sep 10  btw. One can help they revoke it if they due who wants to bet they keep open and try to serve under the table. Its getting we been downtown for 5 years and first time my fam is starting to call me worrying about my safety.
