For those of us outside of the area that usually stick with the blockbusters, when and where do movies like this usually make themselves available for viewing, renting, etc.?

The filmmakers are hoping to get it on PBS - don't know whether just local or national. If that happens, you may be able to watch it online. Or maybe they will put the entire film on their website once they're done with the festivals and premieres. They're showing it at numerous film festivals across the county and in Europe...

Regardless of where this particular film is located, you can always see indie films throughout various theaters in the city. The theaters that most often show indie films are the Tivoli, Moolah, Chase Park Plaza Cinema, and Plaza Frontenac. The two closest for you are the Moolah, followed by the Chase Park Plaza, but the rest really aren't that much further.

Well I'm in Vermont for the next 2 1/2 months, so maybe I'll be able to catch it online or at one of those theaters. I always wanted to watch a movie in the Moolah, and this film would seem appropriate.

It's highly, highly unlikely this would ever play at the Moolah. Most likely it will play the festival circuit, if at all. If it does ok there, it could get a 1 week run at the Tivoli, in one of the small rooms.

Maybe we could place some bets on whether this ever plays the Moolah. No? I didn't think so.

If/when the59king says it's going to play at the Moolah, I'll trust him.

So, on my scorecard you're making confident predictions about the ability of a film you've not seen to employ a distribution method you're unfamiliar with to succeed in an industry you're not a part of... is this right?

I have no idea of a Moolah screening is a possibility for this film. I've never seen a film there, and don't know much about the venue; hell it might be the case that a screening there would be unlikely, and I have no problem with anyone who arrives at this conclusion. But when you say

I'm left to wonder how you came to possess the kind of insight that'd allow you to project the film's entire (apparently rather pathetic) distribution arc with such confidence.

Anyone here see the film at True/False in Columbia this weekend?

Unfortunately, I wasn't at the STL premiere the yesterday, but I've seen quite a few scenes from the film. I think you nailed it. I can't remember if this was in the movie, but crime rates across the street from Pruitt-Igoe were higher even at the height of the P-I chaos. IMO - the imposing physical presence of P-I makes it an amazing projection of what was happening one, two, six buildings at a time all across St. Louis and elsewhere.

I urge you not to do it, but the comments on the Post-Dispatch regarding the film are disgusting and ignorant. Some say that we should again push all criminals and undesireables into small pockets in the city in order to protect the suburbs, they blame the residents and simply state that they would never let anyone vandalize their home (as residents at P-I did).

I got my tickets to the Pruitt-Igoe myth for May 14th at noon. I seriously haven't been this excited about a movie in a long time. I'm sure it will be ultra depressing but still awesome.
