Awesome. I'll be home on the 14th and due for a day in the city, might try to make it to this one.

I wouldn't say that at all. I'll look forward to your thoughts after seeing the film.juiceinkirkwood wrote:I'm sure it will be ultra depressing but still awesome.
Someone sit in the back row at the Tivoli with a tripod, recording device and trench coat...Some of us won't be in town to see this thing...(And no munching on popcorn or opening hard candy wrappers!)...
Or let me know how to find a DVD or download...(I much prefer this option)...

It was really good. See it Saturday if you can. I appreciate getting a very well-rounded examination of Pruitt-Igoe and the circumstances in the world around it. I appreciated hearing the variety of experiences there.
What got to me most was the frequent images of Pruitt-Igoe with the Arch. You can't ignore that this happened here and in a contemporary time period.

Hey, the central scrutinizer. Regarding:

Dragging this back up after nearly a year because I hate "crabs in a bucket" bullsh*t. Also: to remove any doubt about my pettyness, my singular joy in gloating, or my ability to indefinitely harbor animosity over a minor slight.
The film just sold out Manhattan's IFC Center for three weeks. Got some good press and some terrific reviews, in case you missed them. I think it's safely out of "1 week run in a small room at the Tivoli" territory.the central scrutinizer wrote:It's highly, highly unlikely this would ever play at the Moolah. Most likely it will play the festival circuit, if at all. If it does ok there, it could get a 1 week run at the Tivoli, in one of the small rooms.I know people who are.the59king wrote:You seem pretty confident about that, Scrutinizer. You in the film business?

... well, I'm guessing they'd be quite glad to have it. Not sure exactly how many STL screenings it's had, but it's been a couple dozen, and I'm not aware of a single one that wasn't a sellout.the central scrutinizer wrote:Maybe we could place some bets on whether this ever plays the Moolah. No? I didn't think so.

I'm traveling and don't have time to find it but I'm pretty sure the film was a subject in an article that was on the front page of the New York Times a few weeks ago...

Neither Hawley nor Zeldin visited the old Pruitt-Igoe site or talked with the former residents, who are also seeking federal compensation.
