For the Mississippi River Greenway from downtown to River des Peres, I asked for digital copies of the public meeting materials both at the meeting and via the website contact form. I have yet to receive a response from GRG. Frustrating.

Good, good. Two things:
1) I hope this doesn't preclude any future run at a North-South Metrolink line down those same train tracks. It shouldn't, really. In Belleville there's a long stretch of good bike trail running right alongside the Metrolink line.
2) What's the status on the plant just east of the River Des Peres near I-55. I don't remember what it is and what it does. I just know it still functions and there doesn't seem to be a lot of available/useable space to run the trail through. I guess what I'm saying is, is this an actionable plan with support from the plant or is that still something to figure out?

The new extension from Alabama to Broadway while not officially open is rideable although a bit dirty.

Too bad BNSF/City couldn't find a way/fund a new entrance in & out of the rail yard/container yard or better yet relocate the container facility to a new location.

This road was closed for over a year in 2012-2013 and rebuilt. And GRG paid over half a million for the reconstruction. And now it's closing for another two years to be deconstructed again....and GRG is paying for it again?
GRG is not double paying for anything. The construction project in 2012 was to replace the "Wellington Avenue" bridge and with that project very short segments of road on either side of the bridge were rebuilt. Included in the reconstruction was also a very short segment of 10' wide trail/sidewalk.
This new project will tie into the work performed in 2012-2013.

new project will have some work on the bridge & will make the Wellington Ave bridge functional deficient because it will extend the sidewalk on the north side a few feet and reduce the lane size. So the City cant ask for fed $ for that bridge for a while since it used fed $ few years ago to build it.

A newsletter from GRG indicated the bike trail extension from Shrewsbury Metrolink stop to Slay Park is 50% completed. It's been fun to watch this progress.

^I'd rather have the Switzer Building. Since that is impossible at this point, I'd rather have another building instead of more park space next to all the acreage on the Arch grounds.
That part of the bike trail in front of the arch doesn't really function as a bike trail.
It's next to an insufficiently wide sidewalk full of tourists, so you can't really bike on it faster than like 3mph.
Add to that the fact that they close it for days (like the recent beer fest).
So I'd prefer they build bike trails that function as bike trails.

Agreed. How do we vote for not a park. I am ok with park space east of commercial but this lot needs to be a building.

^ It looks like this will be the next big ticket item Civic Progress and the boys will be getting behind. I will say that I have no problem with it. The railyards and highway really do create a blighted experience when driving through the central corrdior. A reclaiming of some industrial land and beautification of that land will go along way and definitely attract more development to the area.

Working on this will also help tie in a number of features in the area with some needed greenspace. Also this is a good connector route that has a number of links to other greenways.
