They started the Crown District branding for Kingshighway last fall. Not sure how hard they have been pushing it. It makes some sense with the Crown for Kingshighway, but with living in Old North, it makes me think of Crown Candy and Crown Square along N 14th.

I'm not sure if "Crown District" is ever going to catch on, but I'm not sure if I care.
I like the work I see from Garcia. Give it a few years and I think that strip near Kingshighway/Chippewa is going to feel quite a bit different. The project coming from the Planet Fitness developer will certainly help.

^ Agreed. Plus I think an Ackerman site redevelopment could have even a larger impact.

Is there anything planned for that site? Redeveloping that eyesore would most certainly be a step in the right direction for the area.

^I'm remarkably hopeful about his work, whatever Crown District might suggest to me. He's working to fill some significant holes in our city and in my childhood. (If he could rebuild the corridor on Chippewa I think I'd nominate him for sainthood. If he'd go in for that sort of thing, anyway.)

wooowooo cannot wait to try it! Really admire Garcia's commitment to the neighborhoods they operate in, we bought our house from them.

I can't find a general "Crown District" thread and I'm not sure how hard the Garcias are pushing that name, but it may be worth having one with all the activity and plans for the area. (I believe Garcias identified it as Magnolia to Eichelberger but Arsenal to Delor/Neosho is where the core mixed-use redevelopment potential is.) The Tower Grove South and Bevo sides in particular need salvation from the sins of the automobile, but there is hope.
