I hope that's early September.

I would think their goal would be to open in time to catch the crowd from Rams games.

^Considering the opening date has gone from "end of June" to "September", I just hope it opens this year.

Walked by on the way home from dinner -- they had the lights on while 2 guys were doing some work around the bar.

They posted an updated menu which includes a bit more choices, including more options for the vegetarians.

Walked by today. It looks like they got the island bar in and got some of the woodwork up, but other than that, I could not discern much progress since the loft tour in June. Other than financing or licensing issues, I can't imagine what the holdup could be.

They have hours on the website now -- not sure if that's new. Anybody know if it's open? If not I'll either call today or walk by tomorrow.

Opening in mid-September. The delays are related to many unexpected building and construction issues. The place is huge and seats up to 300. Bars on the main floor and the mezzanine.

The Grand Opening of The Dubliner will be Sept. 12th. Dublin based band Gael Sli will play at 8pm. Tickets are $20 at the door and proceeds go to the Stepstone Institute.

Heard this from Declan Duffy of the band Irish Xiles who works at the Stepstone Institute.

Awesome! I've really been looking forward to this place opening.

EDIT: This isn't reflected on their website, though.

Someone at the Dubliner needs to update the website. There are no events on their calendar page.

He's probably coming here because he can't access the stltoday.com forum any more due to their cr*ppy servers.

So was it the two-day server crash over at Billikens.com that finally convinced you to set up an account here?

^It is only open this week for the charity events mentioned above. The bartender wasn't too clear on when they would be officially opening, but I gathered that it would not be this week or next.

The bar is nice, they spent alot on the woodwork on the walls, the bar, and the booths. It really doesn't feel like an Irish bar, what with the 20' ceilings and exposed ductwork, but they don't have any TVs set up or much decoration yet, so it is hard to tell what it will look like when all is said and done. The mezzanine has real dartboards and apparently will have at least one official size pool table, not the 3/4 size tables you see at most bars. One other thing, this place is HUGE! The mezzanine alone is almost the size of Flannery's. No pics sorry.

There was a long time joke of a friend of mine that held true about Irish pubs and their food - It's never Irish. It's always American food (burgers, wings) or UK food (fish & chips, beef wellington, 'scotch eggs'), but never Irish. After looking at this menu, I'm very impressed that there is actually an Irish cuisine and that they're actually going to serve it! Raise a pint of Guinness to the shamrock!

Oh, duh, I should have mentioned the beer! They had Guinness, Smithwick's, Harp and Pilsner Urquell on tap, so far, and it looks like they have room for many more taps. They need to work on their pouring and/or the gas mix, however, cause the Guinness was a wee bit flat-tasting. The appetizers they set up for the event were quite tasty, not sure what they were, but they were very good.

So did the real-live-authentic-Irish-waitresses make it over?

Looks like they may have. My redheaded fiancée noted all the redheaded waitresses as we walked by one of their pre-opening nights this week.

(And yes, my enthusiasm got me in trouble.)

Doesn't O'Malley's serve corned beef, cabbage, and potatoes on Cherokee Street? Has anyone tried it? I like that meal but don't want to drive all the way down there if it isn't even worth the money.

Well, this sounds nice. It seems like the only thing most places do to brand themselves as an "Irish Bar" is to throw some shamrocks around, install a Guiness Tap, and maybe a Notre Dame flag.

I haven't tried the corned beef, but their other sandwiches are awesome. Along with $2 Guinness at happy hour and it's a pretty good deal. I'll try the corned beef next time I'm there.(I can't remember if it's on the menu)

I can't wait to go. It sounds like the type of place that will do well here. There's a lot of people who lament that McGurk's is the only "real irish pub" in St. Louis; so hopefully this place will push the number up to 2!

Looking forward to the Dubliner in St. Louis!!. Lots of Irish sentimentality among Irish-Americans and this accounts for the embellishments that must be made to things like the menu and decor in order for a place to be bearable. Irish history is sad and the food was terrible. Hence, today we drink and celebrate!
