Window treatments: Definitely getting some in our bedroom, but I don't know about the rest. I think we'll wait and see how we feel once we're in. We have a corner unit, so I hate the idea of covering all those windows!!!

Think about getting roller shades. They blend in and hang from the top of the window. When you have the shades open you'll never know that they are there. And depending on what floor you're on there will probably be times that you'll be really glad that you have them. Plus you can control each window, so if you only want to patially close one and not the others you have that option.

Also, roller shades are about the best look for a loft (IMO). Every loft book I've picked up seems to always showcase some type of roller shade for the windows.

Do they make ones that look better than the old fashioned white ones? I'm going to look online for some.

It's awesome what's out there. You can get them in different room darkening shades, textures and a ton of choices for colors. Check this site out and look at the solar shades. http://www.smithandnoble.com/sn/photoGalleryDetail.jsp

I'm looking at the Hunter Douglas Silhouette Window Shades for my loft. They let in lots of light during the day and let you see out, but people can't see in. They can be closed at night for privacy, but aren't room darkening. Check them out at:

I've seen a less expensive version at Home Depot. My unit faces the hotel across the street, so I felt I didn't something on the windows for privacy, although I'm far enough back so it may not be an issue.

most of the things we've found don't come in large enough sizes for the windows we have on the second floor.

maybe once we all have moved in (2nd floor owners that is) there may be a vendor we can do a group buy from?

Hey now, no reason to forget about us that live above you. There may be others looking for the huge window coverings. I know that you have the beautiful huge windows down there, but if someone is making yours surely they can cover our smaller ones.

Yes, I know I balked at window coverings earlier, but I'm really waiting to see how it looks when I get moved in, eventually.

i didn't mean to exclude those of you who will be 'windowly challenged' hee hee, joke i know there's a ton of options for the smaller windows and i wouldn't expect that anyone would want to limit their options if they didn't have too. but hey, the more the merrier (and possibly cheaper)!

the only thing that may get in the way of more people being able to join in is that the 2nd floor residents will be the move dates. (i think first move-ins are april, then 7th floor). And of course, coverings for the bedrooms at the lower floors and in the light well are kinda important.

what kind of move-in dates do other's here have? i'm really excited to get to know everyone!

I hear what you're saying about the move in dates. Do you have any idea of when in April? As far as I know the 5th floor is still on the late-July/August time frame. Originally I was supposed to do my pre-drywall walk-through in Feb. then it changed to March and now they're saying early April. Has anyone else done theirs or know when it will be? I assume that the 2nd floor is done or finishing up. How about you folks on 3 or 4?

we did our pre-drywall walkthrough in mid-january. we have been told that we will move in in april but nothing more definite than that. could be apr 1, apr 31 or anywhere in between at this point.

I'm on third floor and was told I'd be moving in May, but that was quite awhile ago and I need to get an update. What's this about seventh floor moving in after second floor? I was told they had to start at the bottom and work their way up due to fire code requirements.

i heard that a long time ago. it could have changed or i could have heard it wrong. if they told you that 3rd floor was moving in in may, i'm probably wrong.

Thanks BL211. I had my walk-through at the beginning of February, so suspect third floor will be next in line after second. By the way, those window treatments I mentioned earlier come in sizes up to 12' X 12'. The ones I checked out at Home Depot went as big as 5' wide by 8' tall. I think that's the size of your second floor windows, isn't it?

We bought our shades from a local place called Overland Shades. It's located at 8231 Midland. The guy makes them custom to fit windows. They look great and you can see out of them but not in. We bought them in charcoal, but I think they maybe come in different colors.

we're not sure of the exact size of the windows. they weren't in when we did our walkthrough and pyramid won't give us the sizes because they don't want to be responsible for us getting the wrong size shades.

i imagine we'll have someone come measure so we don't give the wrong sizes either.

Have any of you seen the new black marble going up in the entranceway? They removed the old and are almost done putting up new black marble and it looks awesome! Hopefully they'll start on the green marble soon. I hear there's still one more wash due on the exterior of the building, too, so that should help brighten things up even more. Windows for third through seventh floors should be arriving any time now. They were supposed to be delivered before the end of the month.

Yes! I saw the black marble the last time I was down there and it looks great! It's about time for a website update I think. Hopefully they will put a pic or two of the entrance in there. If not I'll try to post a pic of it.

The black material at the entry is not marble. It is a product called Vitrolite. A very popular material in the 30's and 40's. You can read more about it at http://www.vitrolitespecialist.com/faqs.html

We are lucky enough to have the foremost expert on Vitrolite right here in St. Louis and I believe he is doing the repairs/replacement on Bankers.

That's excellent. It looks great and will bring a little bit of that old school 30s and 40s look back then I expect.

On a seperate note, am I the only one thinking that one of the problems with the late display is the windows? I guess I thought that they had delivered more than just the first and second floors windows, but from the last time I was down there, they had gone no higher than the second floor.

i can't wait to see the new marble. my wife an i are going downtown today to check out some more progress in our space.

as for the windows, i heard they were only fitting one set on the second floor to confirm fit and function before they place the order or receive the remaining windows. maybe the same is going on for the above floors as well.

hope they post some progress pics soon.

Now, when you say progress in your space, do you mean you actually get to go inside? If you do, I'm very jealous. I hope you can get some updates to share with the rest of us!

When the green marble is re-aplied, and the storefront finished it will be very sharp.

The best part about the vitrolite is that the craftsman is based in St. Louis!
