That whole thing sounds really fishy to me.

It's pretty easy to hit the delete button.
TrustNoOne wrote:I can't understand why people are celebrating this incredible waste of the taxpayers dollar on a socialist government project like this highway. All its doing is redistributing the wealth from real Americans to these liberal Democrat urban dwelling socialist traitors. Not to mention that this will allow undesirables from the city to more quickly get out to us God loving, freedom loving folks in Real America.

Meanwhile, attorney Chet Pleban, who represents St. Louis Police officer Bobby Garrett, is not pleased these days. Garrett was indicted by the federal government for misconduct and entered a plea of guilty to certain charges pursuant to a plea agreement. On Tuesday, Garrett was sentenced to 28 months in federal prison.
Pleban noticed that someone posted a comment on the STLtoday.com, suggesting that one of Pleban's "checks to the judge bounced" and that is why Garrett is going to jail for a couple of years for a lifetime of crime. "I wrote to the editor seeking the identity of a person who made the defamatory comments," says Pleban. "Although they took the posting down, they would not voluntarily disclose the identity of the poster claiming that it was against the policy to provide identifying information. I was not pleased with the response and am currently exploring potential causes of action against not only the poster, but the newspaper as well."

Could you imagine living in a complex with nothing but stltoday commentators? It would just be nothing but yelling. Also, not sure if I'd be ok with all the old white man stank.

On the upside your rent would probably include free cable so that everyone could keep up with Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity.
More proof that our city leaders have no idea what they are doing. They need to consolidate most of that area and pave over it to have a proper parking lot for the dome. What's left should have been turned into restaurants and bars instead of the upscale projects they built.

Interesting. I'm the last person to pull the race card, and I think all should be responsible for their actions. Blaming society has grown tired, and feeling sorry for criminals boils my blood.
Yet, I find it interesting that an article was posted about a South Grand Walgreen's being robbed, and the security camera photo is a 5'6 chubby white male.
It was posted at 11:43am, and oddly, there are only 7 comments. I've never seen this before.

PMed you. No idea what you're talking about..supposing you don't either. Your idea of a "threat" and my idea of a "threat" are probably different.zink wrote:Or what about when people threaten other people on the comment sections?*Cough JuiceInDogtown, Cough*
So I think it shows that even level headed people somehow just go crazy on those comment sections over at stltoday. Sort of like doing drugs (the hard stuff)
Zink is a friend of mine and is far from a heartless, insensitive person. I recall what Zink said and understood his comments came from a rational perspective. Clearly, we don't have infinite resources to treat everyone. There are limits and at some point we must come to accept the eventual demise of ourselves and our loved ones.JuiceInDogtown wrote:It was clarified - I never threatened anyone, I made a stab at a heartless, insensitive comment made by our friend zink and took a below the belt shot at Kurt Greenbaum.
Basically the story was about someone running out of insurance money for their kid who has cancer and zink and another user said that the people complaining were greedy and should, in essence, "cut their losses" (let the kid die). As a father, I was very angry, and now that it's been brought to my attention, I'm angry again.
And to be clear, my post on STLToday said that "If I were that kid's parents, I would contact Kurt Greenbaum to get your identities and hunt you down." Not exactly a threat.
If you want to bring "threats" out in to the open on UrbanSTL, I'll bring to the attention something I would hope you would have the decency to keep to yourself in a civiziled public setting. I hope the cancerous kids' parent didn't read your comments.
And again just to be fair, the quote from devilcat;zink wrote:^ To be fair, I will disclose everything including my actual comment.
If someone wants to hunt me down... I wont take that lieing down. (Because if I do, probably means you already got me)
Background:
Here is the orginal story and you can see all the comments (Except JuiceinDogtown's because his was removed by the moderator) However, since I have never actually been threatened before, I did save the screenshot. (Hey I am an auditor, what do you expect?)

Here was my comment to the story.
DevilCat, I agree 100%. In todays age people think there is a cure for everything and will do anything to try and find it. There used to be respect for loved ones that are dying, now it is just greed for those that want to keep them alive because they think they can beat nature.
I also wonder if these treatments are that expensive because they are going to one of the top children's hospitals in the US?
And here is JuiceInDogtown's response:
Was I a little harsh? Maybe. Then again I might just be too into Darwinism. But does that deserve to be "hunted down?" Especially considering that there are meetups of members on this forum...
So going back to my original post... Goes to show that even rational and respected members on this forum, can go crazy on STLToday.
And I am now currently done talking about this.
The kid is 14.OK, here we have a patient with an undiagnosted, immunologically-mediated neurological disease who is getting very expensive treatments, which don't sound all that effective. This is one of those cases of futile therapy, or in other words treating a patient with no real end point or plan in mind. This is one of the major things that is wrong with our healthcare system, although this is caused by unrealistic expectations of the healthcare system. The doctor/medical shows on TV are entertainment; they are not what happens to real patients! The best plan here would be to taper the patient off IVIG and let nature take its course. All the current treatments are doing is preventing him from dying, which sooner or later will happen to all of us. What is being done now shouldn't be allowed to continue.
