I am afraid everyone is getting a little too X-files conspiracy theory on this one.

The reason Steve is getting a lot of push back on this one is that a lot of ACC readers and fans also read Steve's blog. Both are kind off the alternative media darlings of progressive St. Louis.

The post stuck out to me because a pissing match between Urban Review and ACC was one of the last things I thought I'd see, and people are taking sides.

Quite entertaining.

The ACC's tone was a little flip, but the observations about the political realities of the situation are spot on.

Joe Frank, Will Winter, and Michael Allen offering reasoned defenses of the ACC in this matter is not a conspiracy of Jennifer Florida or the Mayor's Office, believe me.

The reality is the issue dosen't resonate with a lot of people, even some urban progressives. That is what your fighting against, and you knew it so don't get upset about it. It's a David and Goliath fight, what did you expect?

This needs an update. I just got an email from Rita Ford (Gravois Park Association). Here's what she said:

Greetings

We need to continue getting signatures for the "Recall" of Jennifer Florida.

Dale and Mr. Duckworth have never stop pounding the streets.

We need more volunteers.

We can get more signatures at the

Festival of Nations

Location: Tower Grove Park

Sat. July 22 10-7

Sunday July 23 10-6

From HWY 40, exit left on Grand

From I-44, take Grand exit, south on Arsenal

I will be there both day for at least four hours each day.

Also

August 8th is election day

We need people there from 6 a m - 7 p m

We can work in shifts. We do not expect

anyone to volunteer the entire time the polls are open.

If you can volunteer a couple of hours please

let me or Dale know so we can organize a schedule.

There are two poles so we need to cover both.

I will take a some time off from work so I can

participate ( 7 - 12 ).

This is very important because we will be able to get register voters.

Anything we can do to make the voters come to us is much easier than

knocking on doors.

We can not afford to make mistakes like the Bosley recall.

We will need to stay focus and careful because I am sure

one higher up person will try to find sometime wrong with the

signatures and I am sure he will tell his people to double check the signatures

as he did to send one of his aids to the McDonald's hearing.

Any questions please give me a call at 664-3425

Let's make some noise --quitely

PLEASE GET THE WORD OUT AND IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE WHO

CAN VOLUNTEER PLEASE GIVE THEM MY NUMBER

Thanks everyone,

Rita

I've, unfortunately, had a crazy summer and haven't been able to help as much as I'd like (or really, any to be honest), but I'm planning on doing what I can during the elections. I can't help this weekend, but if anyone could make it...we badly need bodies. It's not hard. Please, other STLUP members, get active, get involved.

I've got the same problem as you. I worked 65.7 hours last week alone.

Matt,

I proposed another STLUP meeting to Doug via email today. I think it's important that we regather our resources in the next couple weeks. I'd also like to bring up a few other issues that we might like to keep an eye on. This week is bad for me, but I think next week opens up a little bit.
