How did everything go tonight, for those who got out and handed out flyers?

I hope things went well.

I also like the idea of giving out awards. But, perhaps we should wait until the end of the year to make it a yearly thing. But start keeping notes. :)

I really wish I could have helped hand out the flyers. Sounds like the voters were receptive from what Doug said.

^ I wish I could've been there to hand out fliers. I'm glad things went well.

I also like the idea of STL-UP awards at some point in the future!

Before that, we need to print up some flyers and pepper the neighborhood. With this information, and talking to neighbors, we can get a more effective turnout. I'd propose setting up two different times to getting the word out.

Day one, this weekend. Saturday or Sunday, walking the streets with several of us knocking on doors. Informing people of the issue, and gaining interest in the protest.

Day two, next week (later, prob thursday). Just dropping off small flyers around the same neighborhoods, reminding people of the protest, and asking for their support.

Crap, I just realized that the Lindell Tower public meeting at 9 am, and the Public hearing for S. Grand McDonalds at 1 pm, are the same day!

I hope that we can work it out to be at both. If not, we'll have to delegate who is going where.

Jive, do you have any idea on how long the meeting will take in the CWE? Surely we'd be done by noon.

Busy times for STL-UP

I went to the first unveiling and it lasted about 2 hours. It's imperative that we get a big turnout for this. We have to show the NIMBYs that they don't speak for everyone.

Doug, I'm planning on being at both. If I have to leave the CWE early, I will...because I see that as being the more pressing issue since we don't have the political support.

As am I. Got an invite from Alderwoman Krewson tonight. She said to invite all of the other supporters too. There will be comment time.

I guess I could make both meetings? S Grand is my priority, however, the CWE meeting should not take more than three hours.

We need as many people possible at this McDonalds Protest.

If you're coming, let us know.

If you can bring others, do so.

Let's hear who will be there. Me, for one.

Things look iffy for me- I have wall-to-wall family stuff to do since it's Easter weekend. We have plans to take our son to the SLU Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, but as I write this I'm not sure what time of the day that is...

So I doubt I'll make it to the Schlafly Library, but I will *try* to break away long enough to get to the McDonalds protest.

I was saddened that they didn't hit by cars.

But we didn't get chased off really, we were pretty much ready to pack it up, and he just happened to be cracked out in the right place at the right time.

It was nice to finally put a face to UrbanElitist, who I was very glad to see show up. Thanks UE, you're now an official member of STLUP whether you like it or not! :D

Everyone got good coverage on the 5:00 pm news, but there seemed to be a little less at 9:00. Great shot of just the 2 of you on both though.

I'm sorry I didn't make it on Saturday guys. My wife and I took our son to the SLU Easter Egg Hunt that morning, went home long enough to leave my son with my mom who was visiting us over the weekend, and then we went to see my wife's grandpa at St. Mary's Hospital.

I drove up Grand en route to St. Mary's around 1:30 and saw everyone though (if anyone remembers a black Mazda honking and zoom-zooming by, that was me)! I made it back in time to see the 5:00 news on Fox 2, and I was glad to see they made it there to cover this. It's a shame they didn't get a chance to talk to more of you, although I bet they would have if it had been a weeknight since they have 90 minutes of news beginning at 5 p.m. and an hour beginning at 9 p.m. on weekdays.

I know there are upcoming meetings in which the McDonalds issue is scheduled to be addressed- do we have anyone from STL-UP that's going to those? I'd like to make it to at least one, but if it's during the day I'm not sure I can get out of work on such short notice.

I guess we should begin thinking about where and when to have our next meeting regarding this topic and/or the Opus Lindell @ Euclid development. My weekend schedule looks good now that Easter has come and gone, and I'm free most weeknights.

I guess we need to keep this thread updated. I haven't been doing a very good job.

Basically, for those unaware, we started the recall process this past Tuesday. Today, Dale (Gravois Park Assc) and Mary Anne Lawrence (15th Ward Resident) stood outside the Tower Grove Market in the Park, and collected signatures, and Doug and I walked up Arsenal knocking on doors. We were able to get a solid base of people to sign the petition, and gave out plenty of info regarding the subject, including...

The New Website: http://recallflorida.com/

More Info: http://www.nodrivethru.com/

The second will redirect you to Steve Pattersons Blog and all the South Grand McDonalds issues that have been going on. Also, the first site has a hotline number. If you are a member of the 15th ward, and are interested in signing the petition (or better...VOLUNTEERING) call the number.

Everyone please take a second and go read this post and its responses. I think something smells fishy about alot of the posts. The McDonalds effort needs some STLUP support there.
