ST. LOUIS — A fire caused heavy damage Monday afternoon in part of the first floor of the vacant Northview Village nursing home on the city's north side, the city Fire Department said.

Capt. Garon Mosby, a department spokesman, said the blaze may have been set by homeless people who apparently have been living there. He said firefighters did not find anyone inside when they were extinguishing the fire.

Northview Village, at 2415 North Kingshighway, shut down in December 2023, forcing the relocation of about 170 residents. The facility was in the old DePaul Hospital building.

Stuff like this is so radicalizing. Slumlord should be picking up litter in North city for the next 10 years.

Sounds like they need to sell the south-adjacent historic building along Locust that they tried to tear down a couple years ago.

Interesting article on our beloved clay-tiled roofs and the difficulty in repairing/replacing them.

The building on the corner of Locust and Compton is on the market now

Great news. Just the building or the adjacent lots too? Looks like they own most of that block.
