I think Sams chances of making the team or any other team are as good as any others chances.. He'll definitely compete and also he'll get people of the bi gay lesbian transgendered and beyond interested in football who might of never been interested in the game .. The Rams are improved a lot they could used another wide out but i think that comes for next years draft ..

Ebsy, do you mean watching in person or on TV?

If you mean on TV, I can agree to a point. I find it interesting that MLB is getting raked over the coals for pace of game debates and all of the downtime. If you go to an NFL game, there are so many inexplicable TV timeouts, stops for injuries, stops for review, and official time outs on the field that it can be very frustrating. MLB gets most of the brunt as the "boring game" but to me NFL can offer just as much sit and wait time. These patterns are not enough to keep me from attending NFL or MLB games, but I can understand why some people would say, no thanks.

That said, does Sams' presence make the game any less boring (on TV or in person?

I'm not trying to instigate, I'm just interested in fan behavior and ticket sales, especially in STL.

Well, I happen to think both baseball and football are pretty broing to watch, nonwithstanding exceptional occasions. But Michael Sam raises the historical stakes for me, so I might end up watching a game if he were to be playing. As of late, the Rams really have had a defecit if relevence, so it will be refreshing to see something significant happen for once.

So you might go to a sporting event because of what one the players likes to do in his private sexual life? *i'm speechless*
More likely because Ebsy is progressive and feels the Rams took a similar stance in drafting him. It's commendable.

I'm guessing if Sam weren't gay, he would have been drafted slightly higher. Not too much, though. SEC Defensive Player of the Year or not, he's a bit undersized are good position in the NFL.

There's going to be a lot of pressure on him, for sure. Much like Hank Aaron although probably not quite as bad.

I don't think his preference changed his draft position: a horrible performance at the combine did that.

Agreed but his sexual preference likely did not help. If only at the risk of disrupting team cohesion.

Maybe him being drafted will lead a path and doorway for others in their respective sports to come out. They don't play the game just to play the game they play the game cause they love sport and are very passionate about it wether gay or straight.
You are right he didn't have a great combine maybe he was nervous who knows but still he got drafted and this is a very big step in sports history maybe MLB will be next or NHL who knows ..
His jersey is the 2nd best selling among rookies

ATLANTA — Build a new stadium and the NFL will come with a Super Bowl.
It happened again Tuesday when NFL owners voted to give Super Bowl LII in 2018 to Minnesota over New Orleans and Indianapolis, continuing the unwritten rule of rewarding cities and teams for building state-of-the art stadiums, which are money-making machines.... (Continues)
For some reason I thought at first they couldn't be awarded a Super Bowl until the stadium is completed and starts hosting events, but that may be the Final Four I'm thinking of.

I think it is the final four you are thinking about .. I knew that Minneapolis was going to get awarded a super bowl .. I know the state is trying to lure the super bowl to KC.. If and when St.Louis gets a new facility built i wonder what the chances will be for a super bowl being held here

ATLANTA -- The hope for another Atlanta Super Bowl overshadowed Monday night's groundbreaking ceremony for the Falcons' new stadium.

There were Super Bowl reminders everywhere, and none were subtle. The new stadium is scheduled to open in 2017. Atlanta officials hope the Super Bowl is played in the stadium as soon as 2019....

Hearing a fair amount of talk the last 2 days in mainstream media about north of LaClede's Landing being the assumed strategy here. Do rumors just go in cycles or do you think there is validity to this? If so, from what sources?

^ Where did you hear that in the media? Seems like a tight fit East-West fit for a modern NFL stadium because of the rail tracks, but it may not take a whole lot of land clearance if its just north of the casino. If done well, this could be a really nice location that could help propel interest in redevelopment of the Near North warehouses. That collection of historic buildings on Broadway between Dickson and Cass where Shady Jacks is could be a rockin strip and of course Bissinger's will be just a bit further north. Just make sure its soccer friendly!

I'm pretty sure there is a power station on 3rd street between biddle and ofallon...good luck moving that. And there city jail is a bit more north of their. If that power station can be moved, there is space from Carr to cass but again do you want a city prison a block away? I mean I guess it makes sense since a lot of nfl players visit jails :D

Jail? Where?

No big deal. There's a jail in downtown Clayton and no one seems to mind.

Isn't that like a low security/halfway house place? If it's a problem I don't see how it couldn't be moved. They tore down a convention hotel to build the Ed Jones dome.

^ Actually I don't think most people would even notice the corrections facility.... Bissinger's will be its neighbor and I doubt customers will even know its there.... its kind of tucked away north of Mullanphy. The Ameren substation would be in the way of a Laclede's Landing stadium, but if that is where Kroenke wants his playground then it shouldn't be too much of a problem to pay for its relocation. Plus, it is crap ugly and needs to go anyway!

Moving that substation would cost between $10million to $50million.

Here is a 30,000 seat soccer stadium in Singapore. Put it next to Casino Queen and add a second tier of 30,000 more seats and folks might think about going to games in person again.

And we could add that walkway over to it attached to the Poplar Street Bridge.

Last seat of the 2nd 30k would be like 18 miles from the field.

R W II, I heard it on the Fastlane a couple times early in the week. Once was after they talked to Jay Nixon that Randy talked about that site being where he sees efforts being focused.

More like $50million to $100m, not to mention that rail line would have to be relocated too, not to mention other unseen utilities, doubt anyone wants to spend $100-200m shuffling around utilities

^^ thanks, interesting to hear Nixon is commenting on site location.

^ yeah, the rail line was my initial observation; seems like it would be a tight fit to squeeze a stadium complex in. If I recall, the Houston Astros stadium is right up to a line.

The two sites I'd expect them to be evaluating--one within Northside with its possible financial perks but a very tight site, the other north of the Landing and excluding the substation, but with a train track.

I actually think the only way this thing gets built this decade is if it lands into one of Paul McKee's TIF zones. Like the bottle district site or 22nd St. Interchange. Anything else is probably a non-starter money wise.
