This is great news. I would like to see the city do the BASICS for this event. Clean up abandoned properties downtown at least on the street level, (would LOVE to see the Railway garage demo'd by then), pick up trash, clean up the parks, spruce up infrastructure, remove graffiti & tags, fill potholes & do the basic things that should be done anyway. I also think putting Olympic artwork all over town would be very cool, celebrating our 1904 heritage. It is time that the City recognizes that with MININMAL investment, we can start to change the dying city narrative.

Not only has a venue been added for St. Louis but now a “St. Louis Zone” is created on the LA28 webpage. Makes me wonder if STL isn’t in line to receive other events.

You would think that state would dump about $100M into beautification and infrastructure before the games but I'm 100% certain it will look the same in 2028.

I find it interesting how St. Louis is good enough to host the NHL All-Star Game (2020), Frozen Four (2025), US Figure Skating Championships (2026), NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament (2026), Olympic soccer games (2028), and who knows what else we will land over the next few years, but St. Louis is not good enough for companies to have a vested stake in with offices, jobs, and real long-term investment.

I guess we just have to accept that all of these major events do not care about the high crime we always hear about.

Why would bad evil people do something objectively good and moral?

Typically I would think the federal government would have an interest in making any host city look good, but I really dont know what to expect. Maybe we'll get a good power wash and some street trees at the very least.

I think any beautification would be up to the City & maybe the region. I would hope the State would chip in as well. It really shouldn't cost that much to do basic stuff that needs to be done anyway. I would doubt the federal government is going to help us clean up. Maybe grassroots volunteer groups can be formed to help our curb appeal to visitors. We can get people rounded up for just about anything on social media. How about we work together to round up large groups of people like us that care about what people from all over the place think about our fine City.

Really nice "get" - I wonder if this both men's and women's - Would be great if we had teams based here for training as well.

Should be hearing soon if any teams picked StL for a world cup base camp

I wonder how hard it will be to de-brand the stadium to meet Olympic requirements?

Here are some images as an example of the level of branding the stadium in Bordeaux, France got that was used as a prelim football venue for Paris 2024. European stadiums seem to usually have more restrained signage and sponsorship on their (often publicly owned) venues, so there will have to be some creative cover-ups or removals of signs at Energizer Park to get to Olympic standards.

So, If I read this message right put out by St. Louis SC, if you want to be included in the first drop of LA28 Olympics lottery for the 8 St. Louis soccer games, you have to register with them by midnight PDT March 18th 2026.  Tomorrow.  I went to the website at the link in this message, and registered for the first ticket lottery.

https://www.stlcitysc.com/news/last-chance-to-register-for-the-first-la28-ticket-draw

Within the message link above is this link to the LA28 registration site:  https://tickets.la28.org/

After registering, I got an email back with the title:  "Confirmed!  You are registered for the LA28 Ticket Draw."

So I clicked on my time slot to buy tickets today.  After wasting time via my  own confusion about whether or not I had already set up an account and searching for a password, I clicked the Facebook method of creating an account.  My preferred match was the men's quarterfinal, but it wasn't shown as available.  I don't know if it was sold out or if they're just saving it for one of the later ticket drops.  For the other sessions I preferred, all $28 tickets were sold out.  So I had to go up one to the $104 tickets.  Got 2 seats for FB19 Men's preliminary match, Thursday, July 13th, 2028, and FB35 Women's preliminary match, Monday July 17th, 2028.

Nice. I thought there was a tiny diagram showing areas of the stadium. Like one was E. But I can’t find it now.

My slot was near the end of the first window. There still were tickets to all the games except the playoff round. Everything was $200 and up left. I assume they held back some for future windows though.

There will be multiple ticket drops with multiple prices ranges per drop I believe. Go to LA28.org and sign up for the newsletter. It will announce the 2nd ticket drop where you can sign up for an option to buy tickets to St Louis soccer.
