Are there figures out there on the number of people connecting between terminals? Is there demand for a connector or tunnel between C and E? How are travelers currently connecting between terminals? Bus?

At ~1,320 ft (1/4 mile), that would be a very long tunnel to walk. For comparison:
  • 750 ft - Boston
  • 800 ft - NY JFK Terminal 8
  • 880 ft - Chicago O'Hare
  • 920 ft - Atlanta (typical)
  • 1,000 ft - Detroit
  • 1,300 ft - Denver (walking between concourses not permitted)

The issue would be more if you want to demolish D and Southwest needs to expand further, which would be the unused C gates. If that happened you would need some sort of secure side connection for connecting passengers which is a sizable portion of their traffic here. The other scenario would be if you wanted to use international gates in C and E, since one use could be to connect the two any only utilize one customs area.

And good point about the tunnel length and compare to other airports.

But it would be nice to at least get a unified car rental center at Lambert.
I would think it should be pretty simple to re-purpose the main terminal parking garage as a rental car facility. I think business traveler's would love that. BUT, I imagine that parking garage brings in good extra revenue for the airport.

imperialmog wrote:Also nothing new with the holiday season schedule extension by Southwest. Seems to be mainly the normal seasonal frequency adjustments. (shame they only compare to the previous timeframe and compare same time last year) Though the additional Atlanta frequency might be a difference over same time last year, and overall is a slight increase in total flights.
We will be +2 overall, compared to August.

These cities lose 1 flight / day: LAS, MSP
These cities gain 1 flight / day: ATL, RSW, MSY, MCO

I was driving east on I-70 near Lucas & Hunt and swear I saw a British Airways flight descending into Lambert. This was Saturday right around 3:00 PM. Anyone aware if this was a diversion or what else might have been going on? I tried to look at the arrivals but was unable to find this flight. Maybe I'm just going crazy.

FlightAware doesn't show any British Airways flights arriving at Lambert. I'd guess you probably saw this one, an XTRA Airways charter flight from Montego Bay, Jamaica. Their tail does look somewhat similar to the BA tail:

I don't think Dusseldorf was one of the airports in consideration; would London connection improve connectivity for them?

No, DUS can already be reached via one connection in Boston, NYC, Miami and Atlanta.

Although...
It could be a British flight.
Remember the photo I posted a few pages back had a LONDON flight posted leaving T2 Gate E31... very interesting.

I'll bet a significant amount of money someone put those up there as a prop or a prank. The odds of a flight (charter or not) to London is extremely low.... and to Lima? Miniscule.

Which destinations out of the 71 already served at STL would you like to see with larger airplanes?

I would like to see Vancouver and Montreal added.

I think we have pretty good service to the Caribbean and some Mexico. Looks like SWA may be adding some service too soon.
When I flew between St. Louis and Vancouver to visit home during Christmas, I had a layover in Minneapolis, which looks like a frozen hellscape to me. I'd rather live one block from Hastings Street in East Vancouver where at least it stays above freezing than make a life for myself in a place like Minnesota.

I think I should say some things about Vancouver. I left the U.S. for Canada more than a year ago and spent about half that time in Vancouver. It's a great city, though not as great as Montreal. Montreal is culturally richer and its historic building stock far exceeds Vancouver, but my French is mediocre, so Van seemed like a better option. I guess the language thing ended up being a problem anyway, though, considering that Mandarin is an extremely popular language in Van, so even my barber didn't know the word "haircut." I probably should have gone with Montreal after all.

As far as high rises and public transit go, Van is amazing. The buses never stop. There is one at the bus stop at virtually all times and several more right behind it. Their high rises are beautiful and there are cranes in the sky everywhere. The SkyTrain goes all over and several new lines are under construction.

Their Metro Area is similar in population to that of our own, but within a much smaller space, confined to the Fraser Valley between the ocean, mountains, and U.S. border, so it is far more crowded. I really like that they don't have giant interstates tearing apart the urban fabric of the city everywhere you look. As far as things like the City Museum or Zoo go, you can forget it, but there are a lot of nice outdoor activities nearby, such as Whistler, home to the world's #1 ski resort. Unfortunately, it all costs a bit of money. Science World is $35 and probably isn't even as big as our Science Centre.

While Canadian crime pales in comparison to ours, Van is not perfect. Hastings Street is the worst street in Canada. Walking down it, you will, on a daily basis, see people's arms bleeding, peddling obviously stolen goods, getting arrested, and screaming at invisible people. It's like something out of a 1980's movie set in Chicago. Luckily, it's confined to a few short blocks, and as long as you know your way around, you can avoid getting caught in it. The problem is that it's basically right downtown between Harbour Centre, Canada Place, Chinatown, Rogers Arena, Science World, and Main Street. So, you know, every tourist for sure has to deal with it.

Their airport is awesome and huge. It's extremely busy and has everything you could need. I must also say that the one in Minneapolis was also pretty nice. I do wish that we had direct flights between STL and Van and MTL. I am flying to Melbourne soon and am going to have a number of long flights ahead of me before I get there.

My parents have done 20 trips with them and no issues

I've done Tulum Mexico with them feb 2014. 7 night all inclusive+ flight- $1200

February 2015 and this year been going to Huatulco (only charter from stl is in February and March) been staying at Dreams and price varies by when you book, I booked it at $1591 and 2 weeks later it was $1190 and they switched me to $1190. Best thing about Dreams is its premium booze. :)
Also you'll meet a lot of Canadian farmers there, there are 20 weekly flights from Canada and 3 from the US to Huatuclo, very interesting airport

Southwest Airlines is slated on Monday to top 100 daily departures to 43 destinations from Lambert-St. Louis International Airport.

Airline and local government and airport officials will gather at Lambert at 10:30 a.m. Monday to highlight its new gates 31 and 33 in Terminal 2 it acquired to accommodate the growth, the airline said.

In the summer of 1997, TWA peaked at 537 daily departures - 367 mainline and 170 regional flights to approximately 97 destinations.

I flew quite a bit in those days, sounds about right. Delays waiting for takeoff were ridiculous. They'd shut the lights and air off as we sat waiting. Back then, the could have used a fourth runway!

And don't forget the landing pattern holds above Vandalia, IL when there was any level of clouds in the area.
