Not a bad looking parking garage. It's red brick, and almost looks like a real building. I'm not a fan of parking garages, but this is not bad.

East Prairie near Von Puhl - abandoned church. Anybody know anything about it?

The Assessor info:
861 E PRAIRIE AV
Owner HILL-MCAFEE, BEATRICE & EVERETTE
They bought it in 1988 for $28,000.00
Assessed land: $2,400.00
Assessed improvements: $20,400.00
Assessed total: $22,800.00

Same place, Bing maps. People playing basketball?

House behind the church, pretty far back from Cowan street
Owned by LRA. There are two other houses on Cowan right across the street from the church. The one farther east is owned by LRA, and the other by a private owner.

The rest of the block between Cowan and Prairie (except for the very eastern part of it) is owned by LRA. At Cowan and prairie is a privately owned house. The large plot of land behind it is owned by LRA. The rest of that block of Prairie, including four houses, are owned by LRA. Those four houses were the ones I originally showed you. Three of them are now demolished, and the fourth is probably not far behind. Behind those four houses is a road/driveway to what looks like what's left of an LRA-owned house.

I love this one. BTW that building on the SE corner of Potomac and Illinois is just incredible. Talk about squatters rights. There isn't a house in any subdivision anywhere better than this neglected sad thing.

I'm looking for a new apartment to move into sometime this fall, and decided to street view this one in Benton Park to get a glimpse of the outside

If you see this Google car, it isn't collecting new Street View data. Look to see if the car is driving itself. Here is a link to the article from the NY Times:

That's pretty cool.

I adore this house. The assessor says in 2008 it sold for $840,000. I absolutely adore it. Just beautiful. Hard to beat the neighborhood either.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... ,,0,-11.87

This one sold in 1995 for $250k
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 5,,0,-7.98

This one went for $750k in 2007
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 6,,0,-5.59

I just am in love with this block. It looks like it would be peaceful with big yards, probably a good place to raise kids, yet it's historic and just absolutely gorgeous. It doesn't look cheap like a lot of the new suburban homes. Granted, it doesn't have the urban street grid, but it still seems pretty urban to me. Just beautiful.

sold for $105,000 in 1985.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... ,,0,-11.56

Can't get a very good view of this one. I love the stonework, though. You can tell whoever built these houses put a lot of love into it.
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... ,,1,-11.26

Sold in 2010 for $230k
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 06,,1,-7.9

$605k in 2004
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source= ... 9,,1,-7.54

Are these two houses that different or is this because of the housing crisis?

Just wow.
