Deal is proceeding quickly. I'm hearing the deal could be completed as soon as next month.moorlander wrote:moorlander wrote:Centene acquiring Health Net in $6.8 billion deal

Centene was 186 on the Fortune 500 last year. After this acquisition I see them jumping about 100 spots. Another fortune 100 company!
Tough loss for Omaha - losing the corporate HQ of a Fortune 500 that's been there for nearly 100 years and a ton of jobs (ConAgra is cutting 1,000 jobs in Omaha and relocating another 300 to Chicago). Chicago/Illinois attracting jobs from a smaller midwestern city with tax credits is reminiscent of Clayco's move a couple years ago. There's also a similar personal element (Clayco's Bob Clark lived in Chicago before the move, ConAgra's CEO is from Winnetka, Illinois). Also, reminds me of Atlanta attracting NCR out of Dayton. In each case the company up and left without really giving the hometown a chance - and not because of a merger or acquisition, just because they (or at least the CEO) wanted to.roger wyoming II wrote:I see ConAgra is moving its HQ to Chicago from Omaha.
Yup. Strange world.dredger wrote: I also find it ironic that the state of state affairs with Illinois government is not really a concern for most corporations.
