BTW, I did get one. I've got a year to use it, so I figure I should have someone to go with in that amount of time. At least I hope so.

Here's the plan:

1. Get gift certificate.

2. Call up girl, tell her you'd like to take her out to this cool new fondue place that just opened up downtown.

3. Just go for a few drinks and a chocolate fondue so that it's fun and casual, not a full meal.

4. Have Trent hook you up with some extravagant martinis, get your $50's worth. Tip well.

5. Drink and/or engage in sparkling conversation.

6. Dip strawberries in chocolate and enjoy.

7. Leave restaurant.

8. Business time.

What's this "business time" you talk about?

I've got single buddy who lives in U City. He's got an active dating life and uses the Melting Pot on the third date to "close the deal".

Closes the deal with Fondue? Sounds like it could be painful.

Ask her if she's ever watched the sun rise from the roof of the Mullanphy Immigrant House.

No you can not.

I knew the lack of a south wall would come in handy sooner or later.

BTW, the girl I may ask soon has already been in to see the view.

I didn't take her there just to see the view, it was on business.

^I don't think I'd take anyone there anyway. Not very private.

Perhaps you were there to:

- raise the roof

- plaster a crack

- admire a brickhouse

- polish a knob

- tongue and groove

DeB,

Why you and I don't hang out more is beyond me. My first though on your original post, after you said 'Business time?'..went something like this:

It's business, it's business time.

Makin' love, oh

Makin' love for,

Makin' love for two,

Makin' love for two minutes, oh.

Cuz two minutes in heaven with me is better than one minute in heaven.

All this rehab humor reminds me of the old joke about the couple who couldn't distinguish between putty and vaseline.

Had a group of 10 do the DT Rest week thing last night and it was phenomenal. Had the back room along Locust, with Q as our waiter. We all knew going in it woudl take a while and didn't mind the time. Got in at 7, sat at the bar for a drink and didn't end up leaving until after 11. One of the best meals of my life and certainly the most fun. Big group made it a better as we were all able to share cheeses and desert chocolates. Would recommend to anyone, especially this week, with what you get for $25.00.

Q is a really great guy. He's actually one of the workers from Texas who helped us get the restaurant open and going. And they came back up to help with restaurant week, since we were a little understaffed going in.

Chris, you should have said hi, I was running my butt off last night right back there. I had lovers lane (the small alcove of 3 2-top tables next to the big room, and a couple other tables nearby.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. We actually were short two people in the kitchen, which is what caused your dinner to be even longer than usual. Having only two workers to prep food for dinner and desert made for a long night for a lot of people. But I think most went away happy.

My husband and I went to Simply Fondue last Saturday, and we were not happy with the experience! Our waitress forgot about us! And our portions were a lot smaller than what we get at The Melting Pot!

Apologies for your waitress forgetting about you. There is no excuse you can give, but you should have mentioned something to either Dave or Tim, the owner/managers there, if you didn't.

But last Saturday? Was that restaurant week? If it was restaurant week, that's generally what restaurants do, they serve you less, to give you an idea of what their restaurant is about. You pay $25 for a 3 course meal, and the meal at Simply Fondue was greatly larger than everywhere else.

As for the portions, that's the first time I've ever heard a complaint about the size of the meal, especially compared to the other fondue place. I've heard that we serve more, for a slightly cheaper price. But that's just been my experience with the diners that I've interacted with.

Again, if you feel that your meal was inadequate, you should follow up with a manager to ensure that you received everything that you paid for. It's the very least you can expect when you eat out.

I was wondering if the portion sizes had something to do with the special prices for restaurant week. I even asked our waitress if these were special portions because of Restaurant Week. But she said she didn't know! If those were the regular size portions, than you get a lot less than TMP. It would have been nice to know at the time that portions were adjusted. I'm still not happy with our being forgotten by our waitress. We were without drinks for 30 mins at one point! I actually tried to flag down a manager- but had no idea who the mangers were.

No complaints here about portions! It was a zoo the night we were there during restaurant week, but that's to be expected at any of the participants. We'll be back on a more normal night for sure.
