Yeah downtown needs more music venues. Smaller ones like the Grove has. Just no hip hop.

Music venues def bring people out. Just gotta make sure we don't get so many that they cannibalize each other's business. I wish DT had ALL the kind of stuff you see on Cherokee, Euclid, The Grove, and the Loop. It doesn't, though. And that's why it's not where most people hang out. When my friends ask to hang out, we more often go to S. Gravois than Downtown. S. Gravois has cool venues and bars that DT just doesn't have. Lemmons has free pizzas on Mondays if you buy a pitcher of beer! Silver Ball Room has like 20 pinballs machines! Can't find that stuff Downtown. And I mean, S. Gravois isn't even one of the so-called "cool" areas, either!

S. Gravois isnt cool but its part of a 1.5 mile radius of Lemmons, Peppers, the Mack, Friendlys, Civil Life, Amsterdam Pub, Tower Pub, Three Monkeys... where most of the 21-30 crowd that live in the area go out drinking.

Yeah, so it's pretty cool. It just hasn't branded itself like the Loop or the Grove have. That stretch, given some flair, could truly form an identity of its own.

I know it's barely on the wrong side of Jefferson, but there is the Firebird. (9 out of 10 people are going to call that downtown.)

The Galaxy was always great. Still miss it.

Yeah, I was just right by the Firebird the other day and someone referred to it as Downtown!

Since it's so close to Jefferson and nestled in the bosom of the Wells Fargo campus I'm not going to chew someone out of that.

I was actually a bit further west by Cardinal or Compton. I usually don't say anything when people call Midtown Downtown. Most people don't know or care.

So how is downtown being branded lately? I feel its becoming a touch bro-y/douchey(maybe even a touch ghetto on the weekends). Could be im a bro getting older though. Its been a while since a really high end establishment has been opened. The last one i can think of is Blood and Sand. Everything else is sports bars or just average places, like BBQ, burgers. Which i guess is ok and good since things are still opening. Am i forgetting somewhere?

Bobby's place just opened a few months ago. Last year we saw 5 restaurants open over the summer.

There is a sports bar in Clayton on central called Wheelhouse. They are opening a location somewhere in the vicinity of Busch Stadium. (Looks like one of the Cupples buildings from the interior pics on Instagram)

^ For upscale, I believe Union Station has a new Oyster Bar in the Grand Hall.... could be a special place. Not upscale, but India Palace is a new addition as well downtown.... not much atmosphere but good food was the review I saw. Something should also be coming soon to the OPOP Tower that probably will be on the No Bro side.

With the Arcade-Wright bringing 282 units and at least several hundred staff and student Gorloks (up to 1,000 students alone in time) and the possibility of a Chemical announcement soon, can a Walgreens or CVS be far behind?

Surely we're not ready for an urban Walgreens flagship store like above in Chicago (Minneapolis may be landing one next), but I would think a traditional one in the Chemical or nearby environs would be a great fit and a no-brainer.

Exactly! Here is something we can all contribute to. Tim Horton's set up this website specifically to figure out where the demand is. If enough people suggest downtown, then they will realize the demand and set one up there. It doesn't exactly take much time to submit where you would like THs.

In addition to filling out the above suggestion form, I tweeted to them letting them know I was excited they were coming to the region and hopeful they'd come to the city. I gave a special suggestion for downtown.

They followed me and retweeted it. So, hopefully that's a good sign.

The popular Under Armour athletic wear company is starting to have its own stores in larger cities.... it just took over Eddie Bauer's spot on the Magnificent Mile for its largest one yet. They are Baltimore-based, and I could see a modest-sized store being a good fit for a future phase of BPV. If it were seen as a threat to Cardinals merchandise revenue, by the Jones Dome could work... either at M/X or if that CVB mixed-use garage ever happens.

I believe there's an Under Armour outlet in one of the stupid Chesterfield outlet malls. Not that that rules out the possibility of a regular store downtown.

How about a Target Express? At 20K sq. ft. it is even smaller than CityTarget... this one is going to be part of a new apartment building near UMinn:
