"Clayton officials are close to deciding on a project to move forward with on a 0.86-acre parking lot across the street from Ruth’s Chris Steak House at the intersection of Forsyth and Brentwood boulevards.

The site was previously expected to include several uses, including office, retail and multifamily. But now, according to multiple sources, the city appears close to advancing a plan that includes mostly multifamily.

An out-of-town developer is expected to receive approval on the plan, which would call for approximately 300 units with some retail on the ground floor."

The only images below are the only ones we saw from interested developers. The biz journal story quote the Clayton mayor as saying they continue to work with developers, etc. Hopefully more info soon.

^ Wouldn't the Westin Hotel proposal be the same developer whose office tower a block over got put on ice due to parking space/garage issues? or I'm I mistaken.

300 units would be a big ass project. Probably significantly bigger than the Westin renderings.

A bit bigger than 212 Meremac, which has about 250 units I believe.

Shaw Park deserves its own 5th avenue along Brentwood.

^Shaw? Really? Not sure about that. But the residential density sounds good.

300 units is big. This would probably be close to a 35 story building...

^It could also be half that. Citizen Park in the CWE is 217 units and only 12 stories. The Citizen Park lot was "just under and acre" and this one is .86. Kind of depends on what they're able to do with the L-shaped lot and whether parking is above or below ground.

The Onion is reporting uproar throughout the region as many are highly concerned where they will park in order to patronize City Coffee House and Crêperie on weekend mornings. I kid... I kid...

NIMBY's in Clayton must be going berserk over all this development. I can't wait to see the excuses they come up with to try to stop this one...

This one will have no viable excuses. It will receive zero tax abatement. Clayton is changing, and the NIMBYs will either have to deal with it or leave.

This project will really change the look of Clayton from Shaw Park. Now only if the Apogee Office Tower gets underway.

Pretty nice looking tower, although I'd rather have 360 Market Square, which the same developer is building in Indianapolis.

Hopefully they build some of those imaginary buildings in the background as well.

In reality though: Good looking project, floor to ceiling windows are always nice, hopefully this one happens.

I suspect the imaginary buildings are nothing more than bad renders of Maryland Walk and 8000 Maryland with some of Graybar sneaking in by mistake. The buildings might not look quite like that, but the massing should be about right. It will indeed be most impressive.

“A decade after the U.S. housing market collapsed, Federal Reserve officials are watching rising apartment towers as the next potential asset-price bubble, which could add to the debate about the pace of interest-rate hikes this year.

Yes. But in markets like Miami, NYC and Chicago - I can see that. In other markets not so much.

On the docket tonight for Plan Commission and Architectural Review Board meeting. Seeing there are not incentives, I figure this one will get through pretty easily.

The new nine-story parking garage/office building just announced for the site next door makes the first 9 floors on the eastern half of this tower essentially un-leasable.
