Too far for St. Louis fat-asses.

Now, now. We all know that isn't a unique St. Louis problem but rather a common American problem.

So I put one of the site ideas on paper - or rather into an image on a blog. Let's hope the stadium ends up in the city: http://stlurbanworkshop.blogspot.com/20 ... dream.html

As expected, it will be Vancouver and Portland. Good choices.

Clearly the MLS doesn't want St. Louis in the league. Oh well- the MLS may not be around much longer anyway. Eff them.

What other major sports league has had teams in all three big Pacific NW cities? There was a short period where the NBA had teams in Seattle, Portland and Vancouver: that didn't last long.

Current count.

Football: two out of the three if you count the CFL.

Baseball: one out of three

Basketball: now down to one out of three

Hockey: one out of three (but all 3 cities do have WHL junior hockey teams)

Not true. They just wanted Portland & Vancouver more.

I would bet on them still being around in 10 years.

There are rumors ESPN might kill the ESPN Classic channel and create ESPN3 from it. ESPN3 would then be the home of MLS and European soccer.

Part of the issue with ESPNClassic is that now with the channels directly owned and run by the leagues (MLB, NFL, NHL and NBA) the source material is drying up.

A rose is a rose by any other name? Or is there more to this? Are they trying to compete with FSC?

What soccer does ESPN show now? Just MLS and some Champions League, I think.

That's why they're going to possibly rebrand the channel.

..and Setanta.

All I've read is media and satellite TV blogs, so any info is highly suspect. I'm sure Disney likes the thought of charging $15/month like Setanta does. Plus they can packge an ESPN3 with the other channels. Remember that Setanta doesn't have good market penetration outside of Dish and DirecTV.

You may be right on both accounts. Let's just say if I were Jeff Cooper, I wouldn't waste any more of my time and money.

I may be wrong, but it seems like the MLS is holding him and St. Louis to a much higher standard than other potential owners and expansion cities.

Obviously no one has crunched the numbers, but I wonder about the possibility of Cooper purchasing an existing team and moving it here...

What does what mean? The MLS vote? It means we didn't get a team, and won't for another 3 years, at the earliest.

That's what MLS needs: Jason Bateman and Gary Cole doing the commentary, it would definitely be an improvement over the guys doing it now.

You're better off not caring. At this point I think Des Moines or Tulsa could get a franchise before St. Louis. :(

When I was studying at Iowa State University, Kurt Warner was the QB for the Iowa Barnstormers in Des Moines... Perhaps soccer would thrive there. And when we finally get a team, we can take their star player.

It's from the Dodgeball movie, very off topic reference. Sorry for wasting your time & thought on it!
