It appears that Pickles Deli is opening in the old Teutenburg spot Downtown. There are signs in the windows advertising the deli is coming soon. Should be an attractive addition and its good to see that the spot vacated didnt sit for long.
Teutenberg's used to be at 7th & Olive, across from Macy's and diagonally across from the new "Fred's Cheapo Depot".
This is really fantastic news. It has been a long-standing complaint of mine that there isn't a decent deli downtown.
Pickles Deli to open in former Teutenberg’s space
I love the CWE location, so for all you DT folks, this is great news. Hope they can stay open for the dinner crowd and also last a long time.

I'm really looking forward to this place and glad to see the space turn around so quickly!!
Downtown's been lacking a deli since my beloved 2 Cent Plain disappeared.
That said, I hope they offer Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray soda. (I sent them an email)
Seems like a minor point, but aside from loving it, it will give the deli instant 'street cred' among any East Coast transplants and visitors downtown. How many times have you heard New Yorkers scoff at the notion of delis in the flyover. A little thing like this would help STL's image. (okay, I'm waxing romantic.)
Even if they kept a 12-pack and it took two years to go through, still think it's worth the investment.

If Protzel's moved Downtown, that would be amazing.
I'm just waiting for the inevitable "we'll be open M-F, 11:00 AM-2:00 PM."

Construction is underway to open and expand a 2nd Pickles Deli location in Downtown St. Louis. Unlike the Central West End location, the 2600-square-foot downtown deli will be open for breakfast and house the restaurant’s growing catering division. They’re expected to open late Spring. Pickles Deli has been consistently voted #1 Delicatessen in St. Louis and Best of St. Louis by the Riverfront Times.

As for staying open late, I wouldn't count on it - the CWE lcoaiton closes at 7pm.
Kind of off topic but, what is located in the upper floors of the building?
^^I know there is an Accounting firm on one or more of the upper floors. I think the name is ADM. My friend just finished her internship there.

M-F 7:00 - 3:00.
Looks like another place I won't be going to but on rare occasions.

Aw crap, that is a bummer, that makes 2 on the rare visit...and I live 10 minutes from this place. I was hoping for weekend hours at least.the central scrutinizer wrote:M-F 7:00 - 3:00.

By "rare", I likely mean never. Not as some sort of protest, but it's just reality.Mark Groth wrote:Aw crap, that is a bummer, that makes 2 on the rare visit...and I live 10 minutes from this place. I was hoping for weekend hours at least.the central scrutinizer wrote:M-F 7:00 - 3:00.

OPEN.
Crowded already at 11:15. Still working out kinks--actively training guys how to use the meat slicer, and a bit slow though they have a large staff, but my sandwich is great. It is not hard to rocket to the top of the Downtown deli scene unfortunately, but these guys (as anticipated) just did.

Good to hear....now if the daytime worker crowd can support them well enough, maybe they'll expand hours for the residents and locals in the near future.tge-atw wrote:OPEN.
