I agree! A bank is nothing to get excited about-- what a waste of valuable space.
I didn't want to complain, but I thought the same thing. A bank will be a good tenant and a good neighbor, but it doesn't add much to the downtown scene.
Any new retail prospects for this building? Maybe potential tenets are waiting for the OPO project to move farther along.

Besides the bank, I heard that Smoki O's bbq is going in there.

I walked by the Paul Brown building today to check on the retail and I'm surprised. This is great news actually. Here are the tenants as listed on the windows:
People's Bank
Smoki O's (mmm tasty)
Espresso Mod
Curves Fitness for Women
Also, the a sign on the building said there was only 1000 sq. feet for retail remaining. Across the street(Twain Hotel) in the old Luigi's the new tenant moving in is Trattorias Pub. More bars=good, plus the proximity to the SBC buildings should be a gold mine during happy hour.

The retail looks pretty good, and it is good to see it filling quickly, but I do have one question. I have never heard of Smoki O's. I assume it is good from the "mmmm tasty" comment. Can anyone shed some light on this restaurant?

^Smoki O's is currently on North Broadway(just north of I-70 downtown) They have some of the best BBQ I've had in these parts.
I love BBQ, so that works for me. I would really love to see an all night deli/bakery/diner in that area. Someplace you could meet your friends after the show, after the bars closed, in the middle of the night, or middle of the day for a sandwich, omelette, or bagel. And that serves a really good breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Also, it would be a place where you could have dinner by yourself if you didn't feel like cooking or meeting friends.
Also, a really good record store.

Definately a record store, and I like the all night diner too. The area around the Paul Brown would be perfect for these type things because of the centralized location.

isn't the record exchange on washington now after they moved from the s. hampton location? or has it gone under?
Hadn't heard anything about that. When did they open a location on Washington?
That's what i thought. I drive by ther a couple of times a week, but I never pay attention. Thanks.
I've been saying for years that Wash Ave needs a Virgin Megastore.
And a word of reservation about Smokey O's or whatever it's called. I'm all for good BBQ, but I wouldn't want to live near a BBQ place. Smelling that Q all the time would get tiresome. Granted, it's nice when it's in moderation, but a friend of mine worked at BBs in KC and he hated the smell of BBQ after a few weeks. I think that could be a detriment of living at Paul Brown. You wouldn't ever want to open your windows.
Just a thought.

I hear ya, Trent! I don't think I'd want to smell BBQ every day.
And I LOVE the idea of a Virgin megastore. We should start an email campaign.

Space out your requests. Let's not make it all to obvious now, hehe.
I bet they'd be a little wary to open a store now, but in a few years, they'd be stupid not to!

Any word on how the reservations in The Paul Brown are coming along?

Yup, that's what I was told (90 percent filled) last weekend when I was doing some research for a friend moving here in Jan 06. IMO, this is a sign of strength as I remember visiting PB in Jun when it first opened and there where like 200 units available, and the rent wasn't cheap! How things have changed DT!!
