One can dream, right.
I'm writing in response to the person that suggested that cities such as Washington DC prove that tall buildings aren't needed in a prosperous American city. The most obvious flaw with this comparison is that Washington DC is all an government economy. The money comes in from tax payers no matter what, so it really doesn't matter if Washington DC has tall buildings. As for the rest of American cities dealing with reality, the prosperous ones have tall buildings.

Plus you go right across the river (Arlington) and there are plenty of buildings that are taller than 210 ft... which is the tallest building in DC.... a 30 story building is still what I would call a "tall" building.... So to say DC doesn't have tall buildings is to say St. Louis has a total population of 353,000 (which it does - but the key to remember is that, just like that crime statistic, the whole metro area is much more important than arbitrary political boundaries)

OK, now that we've settled that...
There are several new listings for the Park East on realtor.com, and several of the older listings have disappeared. Does anyone know of a way to learn if they have sold?
Regarding that last turn out of the parking garage, yes, that is tight and I noticed a few scratches of paint along that poorly-positioned pole last month, but they seem to have been scrubbed off as I didn't see them subsequently. I've seen a few people do a 3-point turn to reposition themselves to go down that ramp without scraping. The driver of that Hummer must be sweating.

Maybe they should claim to have a "green" garage so it seems purposeful.

According to the Coldwell Banker Gundaker website, there will be two open houses this Sunday at the Park East Tower for units 701 and 1001 from 11:30 to 2PM. This will be an excellent opportunity to check out the interiors. If anybody goes, feel free to take pictures.
I actually commissioned that PVC pipe sculpture. It was expensive, you better enjoy it. It depicts our struggle to connect with humanity in our cold, oppressive world, and possibly my struggle to spell correctly.
Yes, someone please attend the open house and take photos.

More units for sale on the cb gundaker website, showing 18 in all (although 1 unit is listed twice). That seems like a lot. In addition to regular flippers, there appear to be some people who furnished the units and have now put them up for sale. They are either flippers who brought in furniture to make the space more appealing, people who moved in and decided they didn't want to live there, or people who make a nice profit between the pre-construction price and today's price and are living there until they sell the unit.
Only time will tell what will happen next, but having 20% of the building up for sale is no bueno.
On a different note, it's amazing that none of the units for sale are the 03 units (Buckingham). These units must have been purchased by people who really planned on living in the building and wanted to pick just right. Of the two bedroom units, it's arguably the nicest layout, and the largest too.

Jinxed.
1803 and 2003 are listed on realtor.com.

I think that counts as flipping -- for people who can't afford a second home.

Any word on what is going in the first floor next to 5th/3rd Bank? I saw that the Park East Lofts Office across Lindell said it had moved into the tower, is that what occupies the other first floor retail? I haven't made my way onto that section of Euclid in a few months/weeks..I usually just stick to the block south of there

I was told it would be Starbucks, but that was more than a few weeks ago.
my cousin is a tenant and also said a Starbucks was going in (that was over the holdiays)
For anyone who noticed a larger number of cameras and reporters than usual outside the tower today, Barack Obama was allegedly in the building.
Is there normally a lot of cameras and reporters outside the tower?
I can confirm that Obama was in the building. My business parter and I hosted a fund raiser for him yesterday.

Sursly!?!? What does a good democrat have to do to get in on that. PM me contribution $$, whatever . . .
The guest list was full for this one, I guess he has a lot of fans, but I'd be happy to get your name for next time, no clue when that would be.
that explains that. well done taxguru. strangely, i couldn't find anything about it on the news, despite all the cameras.
It's a shame. I was kind of hoping that it would generate publicity for the building, but I haven't seen anything about the building either.

2003 is actually not a "Buckingham" unit.
ah, my mistake. Thanks for the correction.

There is also a balcony from an adjoining unit, from which if someone was to step out on to it, would be able to see the front page of my paper (TMI?).
I loved that aspect of the bathroom and that toilet by the glass singularly tempted me to those units. Of course, what would entertain me for hours would be the bane of those unfortunate souls who could see into my bathroom.
There is a great house in Venice Beach, California. On the top (3rd) floor of that house is an all-glass bathroom, and the older gentleman living there seems to take great pleasure in showering, toweling, stretching, etc in full view of the many passers by on the beach. Oh, how I envy him.
