BTW, I hope this post isn't another shameless McGowan promotion like we saw a few months ago on the Terrace Lofts thread.
i think it's great. they might fill the building faster and free themselves up to move on to other buildings. anything that gets more people downtown!

^ This is my favorite building in the Downtown West/Locust area. What a great transformation!
The first floor with the mezzanine looks particularly striking. Hopefully they can find a tenant to take full advantage of that great setting!

I thought it was supposed to be banquet/reception space run by Mike Shannon's. At least that's what I was told when I checked the lofts out.

I wish someone would rehab the smaller building immediately to the west, or at least uncover the windows. Look at that ornate detail work.

I've heard about a banquet facility, but I didn't know the people behind Mike Shannon's would be involved. Cool news, although it's no surprise since McGowan Walsh is the developer. This is a great space for something like this, and it sounds similar to what Mike Shannon's has planned for the ground floor of an old department store in Springfield that McGowan Walsh is supposed to renovate (it's supposed to have a Mike Shannon's and a banquet facility).
DeBaliviere, I agree, the building next door should be next. The detail work is wonderful and appears to be in relatively good shape.

Our annual luncheon meeting will be held in the showroom of the former Packard dealership at 2201 Locust Street in St. Louis. The event will commence at noon. We will have a buffet luncheon at 1:00 which will be followed by a program on the facility and Packard’s in St. Louis. This presentation will be given by noted historian Gerry Perschbacher. Following the presentation we will have a brief business meeting then have an opportunity to tour the facility. Most of the upper level has been converted to living accommodations "Packard Lofts". The lofts are quite fashionable – you will be interested to see how history has been preserved with the restoration to modern living accommodations.
We will be the first luncheon event held in the old showroom. This is a charming room with large windows overlooking the street, a white tile floor, and a mezzanine level where sales offices were formerly located. Restoration is currently underway by Lumen’s Catering. Lumen’s is owned and operated by Pat Shannon and is affiliated with Mike Shannon’s Steak House and Sea Food. The facility will be used for private parties and catered events such as our annual meeting.
