...I'm not necessarily "worried" about the CWE anymore. Not like I ever was, but the area and lifestyle it enables seems semi-recession proof.

Still excited to see what comes at the corner of Lindell and Kingshighway. No doubt, it'll be amazing.
Yes, I have had that thought too that the neighborhood appears to have a resistance to a recession. Even though some of the businesses will be hurt by visitors from out of the neighborhood not coming in and enjoying the businesses, the people who live in CWE will still go to them.

Lets hope something is unveiled for the Lindell/Kingshighway lot. I don't personally think that the tower is on the drawing boards anymore. Who knows, maybe it is but that is my opinion. Personally, I would love to see the loo0t at Euclid and Lindell built on first instead of Kingshighway and Lindell as it would truly make Euclid a Concrete Canyon North of Lindell. Plus, I would bet that MACX properties would raise hell if a tower at Lindell and Kingshighway would be taller than their project,. People will may top dollar for their apartments and if views are blocked by a new tower, they will complain about that.

More complaints about new buildings blocking views the better. Sounds like a great "problem" to have.

Pretty neat Lego Skyscraper exhibit at the Magic House.... does the Tapei 101 tower look a bit familiar?

At 1,671', it looks like this bad boy was the world's tallest when completed in 2004 and since surpassed by the Burj Khalifa

PD with article updating noting financing is secured and timeline of construction.

http://www.stltoday.com/business/column ... 647d1.html

Utility work is planned this month but construction should start in earnest by next month, said Peter Cassel, Mac Properties director of community development. He said financing is all lined up and the project is making “very good progress.”

I came across an excellent picture in a listing on Zillow that illustrates what an impact this is going to have on the CWE. Love the picture regardless.

You can see where it will go. I can't wait to see this rise. The impact will be quite large from numerous places in the City.
1. This View
2. Forest Park Avenue
3. Euclid and Lindell
4. Forest Park
5. "S" curve on I-44 for a split second when near Webster University
6. Rooms in the Ritz Carlton and the Plaza in Clayton Tower
7. Hampton and 40
8. On highway 40 near IKEA

Has anybody done any mockups with this in the skyline? Aside from the renderings from Studio Gang, obviously.

I do not have the required skill set to do a good mock up, but would definitely be interested in seeing a view of it.

It should end up being about 80' taller than the Chase, or roughly 25% taller.

A rendering from atop Art Hill would be awesome... one of the finest views in America, (although I would like to see those radio towers moved.)

^Yep. Art Hill will be awesome. I was disappointed when they first built the wall around the terrace, but now I see how it draws people out to the edge, where they really get the full view.

^Great find of that drone shot. A bit OT, but here's a StreetView shot from Art Hill looking northwest, showing that The Everly just sneaks up above the tree line:

The more high-rises surrounding Forest Park the better!

^ The more the merrier!

I'll see if I can post it, but I just came across a photo I think from 201 with two cranes from the opposite direction, presumably for the SLAM expansion. Does anyone recall there being two cranes b/c I don't.

^Yep; definitely two cranes. There had been a photo on the Art Museum Expansion thread, but it's not there anymore.

Completely OT but one of the Everly I took from Art Hill as well. Pretty prominent from this view.

One Hundred site from the Chase Park Plaza before the construction fence in the center was put up. Even for us forumers who know what a difference this is going to make, I still think we are underestimating what a major effect this is going to have on the city and future development in St. Louis.

The groundbreaking date should be announced this February at some point according to Peter Cassel. They want to start in early March.

Found this in the skyline section of the photos forum here, taken from the Parc Frontenac. I would guess this would be about a third of the way up the finished product. Those higher floors will undoubtedly have the best views in St. Louis.

PostJan 24, 2018#272

Nothing substantial going on quite yet. I would guess this is just some preliminary utility work. The majority of the parking lot is still in use, but there are small portions that are blocked off.
