Unless they have changed course and will now accept Medicaid, there's going to be a lot of big surprise bills in store for the people that can least afford it...
Unsubstantiated rumor. It’ll be accepting Medicaid. It’s required to do so. It’ll also accept all other forms of insurance. And if by some chance someone wants to pay out of pocket, that’s allowed too.
Thanks Chris. Hopefully the two office buildings will fill in the corner and maybe offer some better context to street/density. Assumed that you also had a chance to see site plans and confirm as such.chriss752 wrote: ↑Sep 28, 2021Some progress shots on the Homer G. Phillips Hospital from today. The Thomas Street extension is coming along as well with the branch to Cass Avenue.
Regarding the future buildings, they'll cost more than $26 million. I had the chance to review the plans and see what's coming. They'll be nice additions to the mix. There other components that will soon be revealed and that will commence sometime in the first half of 2022.

I'm assuming offices might very well cater too or be medical offices. Would make sense to me and might very well catering too/seeking out NGA employees. Not a bad thing either as some folks might see this as an opportunity have services close to and at convenience of being near their work, such as dentistry (my wife for the longest time went to dentist in downtown Stl while working at ATT tower/909 Chestnut). Jobs lead services, lead to more density and jobs, more local opportunities, so on. Exactly what north side needs.
Not an unsubstantiated rumor. Paul McKee told me in person they would not be accepting Medicaid. But that was three years ago when all they had was a couple walls that kept falling over. So that's why I said unless they have changed course. Glad they will accept various forms of insurance. May or may not still be out of network depending on insurance, but this wouldn't be the first place I'm headed anyway.chriss752 wrote: ↑Sep 29, 2021Unsubstantiated rumor. It’ll be accepting Medicaid. You're not the only person that knows things. A lot of us have been in this game a lot longer than you.
Another crumbling warehouse lost to fire, though it doesn't look like McKee owned this. He owns property all around this one, including that big warehouse that burned a year or so ago.
It looks like it's 1530 Hadley St. The roof was mostly gone and it was crumbling. Probably started by the homeless living there.

I've been walking past Greenleaf regularly for a year-plus now, and there are never more than three or four cars (employees included) and no evidence of pedestrian traffic. Today, I attempted to pick up a few things.
I've never seen a store so barren. Roughly 60-75% of the shelves/freezers/fridges are empty. Me and another person left empty-handed at the same time. There is just no possible way this place is around for much longer with no customers and nothing to offer those who do show up.
Maybe it's just time for another monthslong "COVID" closure for the winter.

That is disappointing. Hopefully another operator can pick it up. It's a nice store.

Even more disappointing is all of this demand for housing going on and not a drip of it coming from Northside Regen...
Looks like they're planning to clear out most everything between 20th and 21st south of N Florissant.

I didn't know where best to post this because this is really my first post, but I was thinking that once(if) more of the northside regeneration plan is built is that this area in Jeff-Vander-Lou would be one of the first areas on the Northside to truly gentrify. Mainly because of how intact the housing stock is compared to other adjacent areas of the regeneration plan. Some of the streets can almost resemble Shaw or TGS. ![]()

With or without McKee's help that doesn't sound like a terrible bet. It's got some functioning anchors and it's about to have another very large one. Anybody know what's up with Beaumont? That's such a gorgeous building. I sincerely hope it goes a better direction than Cleveland.

Well anyone could have told you Paul McKee had to have several aldermen on the take!

Yeah I have always thought calling that pathetic excuse for a clinic Homer G. Phillips was incredibly insulting.

I believe it was an out of touch mistake until they decided to move forward despite calls from the community to choose a different name. That's when the mistake became an intentional middle finger.

^ This.
The controversy surrounding the facility's name is not new. It goes back to 2019 and 2020, and yet they didn't listen to the community and proceeded anyway.

Zero cars (and no evidence of pedestrian activity) at the McKee market at noon on a Wednesday (also zero cars at 11:45). I've walked past dozens of times and four cars in the lot is the busiest I've ever seen it.
There's no possible way this place isn't losing money. Somebody ELI5: How is it financially beneficial for them to keep this place open?

^ I've thought the same thing when I've gone by, but that's so infrequent I couldn't tell if it was just a coincidence.
A shell of a business, for a shell of a redevelopment agreement, for a shell of a man.
The whole thing is just embarrassing. How long til half the board does time for letting this grifter offend the entire city, especially this swath of the north side?

There's no food in this place and the little that they do have is expired.
