Just saw the photos. It's the best of a bad situation.

Does anyone know if there is any direct passage between the garage and the Syndicate? IIRC, there were no holes in the East side of the Syndicate as the garage was going up, but they may just have had some temporary partitions. If not, it would seem a waste, you would think the Syndicate developers would at least want ground floor access...but maybe not.

I am told there will be a pass-thru from The Syndicate to the garage on the 4th floor.

Wow!! such BS!! It just really makes no sense to have them both on the same block. Somewhere closer to Broadway would at least serve the East portion of Downtown. Such a dis hearting thing.

Hopefully City Grocers can adapt. Maybe they should concentrate more on the deli/prepared food portion of the business.

I take it this Schnucks will take up the entire bottom level of the Garage Mahal? I was hoping Walgreens would go back in.

The Schnucks will have a pharmacy for whatever it's worth. I think a Schnucks at that location would serve the needs of more people than a Walgreen's.

Or specialty items like imported foods. After all, Schnuck's can't stock everything, even in one of their regular sized stores. This one will be 1/3 the size.

I'd like to see a Whole Foods added, also.

We all know this structure is a travesty to the architectural heritage of St Louis. But I say it’s time to turn lemons into lemonade.

Hmmm...I thought there was a shortage of downtown parking.

But look at the wonderful view up here!!

Check out the lions--very scary:

How about the old post office:

And all the other fabulouso views of Downtown St. Louis:

See for yourself--but bring a better camera than I have!!!!

Won't all the Webster Student park here once they start holding classes downtown this fall?

Some Paul Brown residents also have parking in the building. Just remember, with the City Grocers, the addition of Schnucks, the evenutal rehabs of the Arcade and STL Center, Macy's, and the Laclede Gas tower, this stretch of Olive has a very bright future as the main shopping district in downtown. That garage is well positioned and will be well used if downtown can captialize on the above potential.

^ If and when the leave, you can scratch them from the list, but that does not change the point (or the strength of retail options) about that stretch of Olive.

Heh. I can scratch them off my list when I please. And yeah, Olive has great potential. Specifically with its strength centered around the OPO area.

Hello?! Webster is already offering classes in the OPO. Haven't you noticed the streets teeming with students and professors on their way to class, cheerleaders coming home from practice, tuba players stopping to play a few bars because they can't resist the ambience?

These are from the parking deck, taken early his month on a rainy day.

Here are some more from that day

Also, let me add, if anyone has connections with construction or real estate companies, I'm looking for freelance photographer / website / framed art work. I would love to get on-site for some of these projects!

It looks like they have re-opened, and re-paved 9th street between the OPO and the Garage.
