Ok here’s a crazy idea. What if we 1)built a replacement for the MacArthur Bridge—with a level for trains and a level for cars, with ramps to 44/55 and 7th St. 2) tear down the Poplar Street Bridge and 64 all the way from Kingshighway to the river. And 3) connect 64 to 44 at Kingshighway.

Personally while it’s a pipe dream, I think it would be a great thing to help heal the grid and not have huge highways cutting through the city

I wouldn't say no to any highway tear-down but I think removing I-44 would be the easiest of any of these pipe dreams. Like they could just have the highway end at 270 with no disruption to the interstate system. I also think it cut through the city most destructively, the way they built it through neighborhoods rather than industrial areas. Pity they're putting all this work in to repair it.
