DblnSouthCity, is this a proposal desired by the FBI and or done deal? I believe this would fall under a congressional appropriation and therefore in a budget somewhere. Haven't seen anything in the news nor any type of congressional press release (congressmen love to tout these things)dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Sep 30, 2020FBI is going to move to the NGA campus to a new $129,000,000 facility that’s 172,000 SQ feet

The facility is in design
Btw. This isn’t new info. Biz journal reported last year that they were exploring this based off this document

The Business Journal really jumped the gun on that one. That "New FBI Field Office" image in that Tweet above is from their "26 Largest Construction Projects List" in the current issue.dredger wrote: ↑Oct 01, 2020DblnSouthCity, is this a proposal desired by the FBI and or done deal? But there is no House or Senate Committee resolution listed for the project prospectus, so there was no appropriation for a planning or design budget in FY2020. Maybe it will make into the FY2021 budget, or a stimulus package...but is St. Louis even going to have an advocate for it in Congress?

Curious where that image came from? I check google earth pro all of the time for new aerial imagery, but it doesn't appear google has updated their aerials since 9/25/2019.
I’ll let them answer but at a former job I had access to updated Digitalglobe/maxar imagery. Some would be a day old. STL got shot at least a few times a month. So depending on people’s jobs they might have access to pretty new imagery that isn’t free to all.Forever_Lou wrote: ↑Oct 19, 2020Curious where that image came from? I find this interesting. Really shows the locations of the parking garages and the main building. I also notice what could be the driveway.
Finally, I imagine the FBI office would go on the Northend of the site when the time comes.

^Airborne Imaging had a flight in and out of Parks today. (Among the great many oddballs that have been visiting the region's assorted airports of late. We've had Boeing bigwigs and the Polish Airforce at Lambert, Egypt at Spirit, and the Army in and out of Parks a few times. Not that I ever find out about this stuff quickly enough to get pictures, mind. But lots of interesting activity. There was a Mexican charter, too.)
NGA will be giving an update on the new building tomorrow at the Geospatial Gateway forum. They have a 45 minute slot in the afternoon.
This shot really shows the proximity to St. Louis Place Park. Should be a big boost to efforts in that area.
This is on the globe building but the first few shots are what have to be pretty recent drone footage of the NGA site.

^ Some very good takeaways in that video. My thoughts are on three things...
1. Positioning the contrast between historic art deco with high capacities for fiber infrastructure.
2. The "Skif Space: Classified Space To Fit Any Need".
3. The planned GeoInt Village along the New NGA West (stated aloud in the video at 0:16).

^It's a good video. And the geo-int village business is indeed quite interesting.
He geoint village is a McKee thing though, right? As discussed in the Northside thread. It’s just hard for me to believe anything he thinks up actually happens. But I hope it does.

^Is it? I forgot. That makes me a little more skeptical, but maybe if someone else puts up the money it will happen anyway. I'm sure he'll try to cash in on his abusive landbanking and neglect.

MSD is probably very happy with that giant retention pond surrounded by permeable surface right in the heart of their Project Clear area. Hopefully the NGA can do some cool water retention things with their sprawling campus.
Slides from the NGA update today at the Geo conference. Overhead shot from June and then some inside renderings. Nothing crazy but posting for those interested.

^ god those garages look awful. like something out of the 80s. not even an attempt at some kind of decorative facade.
The NGA has signed a 10 year lease at T-Rex for what they are calling Moonshot Labs. They will move roughly 60-70 of their employees and/or contractors downtown to work with the private sector. In addition to that, the Missouri Technology Corp. is expected to announce it's launching an accelerator for GeoInt startups in partnership with the NGA.
