Cool. 8)

So I guess they're going to cover up the windows on the building next door? I can't believe that the owners of those windows would allow such a infringement on their personal property rights to take place! (sarcasm off)

Two things:

1. This thread belongs in the Downtown Residental section, not the Projects and Construction section.

2. This thread already exists as "Gateway Lofts". I guess they have changed the name.

That's what I was thinking too, UE. Good call...

Those appear from that image to be hinging windows. It looks like thay are painted or are stained glass.

Ahh, my bad. Is that bad etiquette of me? I looked for an existing thread first but didn't look close enough apparently...

I'm glad that changed the name. Gateway Lofts was a really generic name.

If it didn't happen on a daily basis, i would say it is bad, but i'll forgive you.

Nah, it was an understandable miss. They changed the name and the address. Unless you recognized the rendering from memory, like some did, then there would be know way to find this thread. MattnSTL was basiclly just talking about the irony of Citylover and I jinxing, while he triple jinxed by simultaneously moving the thread.

I think this new rendering is much nicer than the original. I really like the black mass rising up the center of the building on the Tucker side. And I was never sold on the rather vague "glass box" on the corner.

"Nadira?" As in nadir? Doesn't seem like an association I'd want to make with my product, but, moving on. . . .

I like the new rendering better too. Looks modern and classy. Cheers on that.

What's the timetable on this project? Are they starting anytime soon?

^ It makes perfect sense. No doubt the developers are fans of the Power Rangers! Were you confusing Nadir with Ralph Nader the activist and politician?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadira

Nadira is a name shared by:

* a poet of the Khanate of Kokand

* a Canadian pop-rock band

* an Indian actress best known for her roles as a temptress in the 1950's and 1960's

* an Indian actress and producer, Nadira Babbar, of the present day

* one of the villains in Power Rangers:Time Force

-------------------

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadir

The nadir (from Arabic nazir, "opposite") is the astronomical term for the point in the sky directly below the observer, or more precisely, the point in the sky with an inclination of -90°.

Geometrically, it is the point on the celestial sphere intersected by a line drawn from the observer's location on the Earth's surface through the center of the Earth. The point opposite the nadir is the zenith.

By association, nadir is also used to mean the lowest point, or time of greatest adversity. In economics, nadir means a low in the price of products. In medicine, nadir can also be used to refer to the lowest blood count for a given patient in a given period of time (i.e., a patient's nadir ANC or absolute neutrophil count).

Nadir also refers to a downward-facing viewing angle of an orbiting satellite, such as is employed during remote sensing of the atmosphere.

Thank you for that, um, thorough dissertation, professor.

As used commonly, nadir refers to the lowest or "worst" point in someting's or someone's trajectory, career, etc., which is why I thought it a bad choice for association.

Eh, so I have an analytical personality. There was also some levity w/ the Power Ranger bit. Hopefully we can appreciate each other's differences and stuff w/o sniping at each other. Good point with the reference to Nadir...

It should be noted for the crowd that the new sign on the side of the neighboring building is of the older rendering, with all the reflective glass and a shiny surface on your "black mass".

Whoa, I'm confused.

So the sign that's free-standing at the intersection, that's the latest?

How do you know it's not the latest design? And if you have seen the latest design can you link to it or otherwise describe how it's changed? I'll take a picture of the freestanding sign in the same intersection and post it later....

I was confused by phobia's post. Now it looks like I've confused somebody else.

The rendering on page 2 of this thread is the one on the "free-standing sign" I referred to. The one on page 5 I haven't seen except here, although I did just compare the two and they really aren't all that different. I do prefer the "page 5 girl" though.

I cannot attest to which is "latest"... only that the brand new sign includes the "page 2" rendering.

This thread has gotten a little weird.

But I like the more detailed rendering. Build it already.
