How'd it go? Gotta keep the underage members here up to date
I'll share some thoughts for the next one a little later. The big idea worked out very well overall, but scheduling needs to be reworked. I'm glad we were able to do this run to prepare for a larger one in the future.

A larger one in the future is a very welcome idea indeed. As long as you make it anytime in '08, you can go ahead and count me in. 1 month left
!
As far as people we know that went was Suburban Lou, Xing, and myself. If there were any other people, sorry for missing you. We basically talked bad about people here the whole time. I'm joking, we barely even talked about this place.
It was a damn cold day to do the crawl. About 34 degrees and flurries.
The next crawl needs to start later. Noon was a little early. We also need much longer at each stop. We started at the airport at noon, were at the loop around 2, CWE about 4, downtown at the Dubliner around 6:15, and to Belleville around 8:30. Less stops, but more time at each one. We skipped Union Station, Mercury, and the Landing. Don't necessarily need to stay at each place as long as we did, but don't forget about travel time on Metro. We caught most trains pretty quick, but you could have to wait for a bit plus ride time. If you are parked along the Shrewsbury extension you need to be on the 11:13 train out of Belleville, which is a little early for me.
On to my thoughts about the route. The airport bars are easily accessible, but expensive. Cool to have a drink there, but I wouldn't be disappointed to skip it. The loop is a great stop. Several options. Delmar Lounge does not open till 5, so we went to Blueberry Hill. CWE was good with Tom's. Close to the tracks, and a bar that I like to go to. Skipped Union Station, but would be easy. Skipped the Busch stop. but would be a good stop. 8th and Pins has some options, Convention Center has all of Washington Ave. Great stop. The Landing doesn't appeal to me so much, but has options. Any downtown stop is good. Belleville is an 8 block walk from the station, but it's quick, especially when you are in need of a restroom. We did not go to Main Street because it has changed to a Tequila Bar and was rather empty. We went to Big Daddy's 618 instead. Packed house and very nice bar tenders if you get my drift. Several options along Main Street.
I think that is everything. We were thinking that maybe between Christmas and New Years would be another good time to try to do this.

Why? Hungover from the night before?MattnSTL wrote:The next crawl needs to start later. Noon was a little early.
I was drinking the night before, but only till 1:00 am. I was up in plenty of time to go. It's just one hell of a long day. And it would be cheaper.

The Trainwreck metro crawl starts in shrewsbury at 8:00am. The first bar is actually on the landing @ 10am. The idea is to hit the denser areas earlier (though there is much drinking before the trip DT), so that you can get to more spots without long travel times and also, as you get drunker, the longer travel SLOWS YOU DOWN.
If you guys are trying to do the whole system, start North, cut into clayton, come back DT, and then get a hotel, then do Ill. on the following day.
Although, now that I think about it you could go to the bar at PF CHangs, that italian place there, or even Tropicana at the Richmond heights stop.
Sports Attic at the Hanley/Manchester.
(little walk...)
But that would be ridiculous...maybe.

Glad it went well enough that you were encouraged to try it again. I hope I can make it next time.
Thanks for your concern Luke. Serious issue but not life-threatening or anything like that. Just a potential life-changing responsibility that will alter my daily life & most likely rearrange my goals & ambitions.

^I got a pretty good idea in that case.
I'd like to do the next one when the most people are here. What is a good time around Christmas?

I know I am biased but I would love the next one to be anytime after January 1st (the 21st). Would love to be able to join. Maybe the 4th or 5th of January?

Same here. But on one recent Saturday morning, reading the Plaza Square thread prompted me to drink a couple of beers before noon.

I came with my wife but we showed up like an hour late. There were a couple of guys that I think was you all. We exchanged glances at the Delmar station. But by then, my wife wanted to go get lunch, so we went on to Tom's. I didn't see anyone show up there. So we did our own two person crawl. Was one of you wearing a cw pizza sweatshirt? Because if you did, I DID walk right past you guys.

I was wearing a parking meter hoodie but I decided not to come out because I didnt want to take up too many barstools.

son of a b****. We probably just missed you guys at Tom's, then.
