The roof looks like it’s sagging some.

It may look like it’s sagging, but this is how it was designed to be.

Anyone been by this one recently?  Curious to see how it's looking.

They’re putting up metal framing for the exterior skin. I work down there, I’ll try to post pix tomorrow.

^ Looking good, thanks Framer! Really fills a big hole at that corner. On to the old Church’s lot!

Wow, this building is going up fast! I love steel as a building material for its construction time.

It doesn't show up in the pics, but the building features some nice detailing; gonna look good, I think.

St. Louis City project of the year candidate if it weren’t for BPV, One Hundred, SLU Hospital (and potentially part of The Foundry?) opening.

2020 will be a good year for Grand openings.

Sad to say, but this may be "groundbreaking" retail design for St. Louis, so it'll be interesting to see how they lay out the CVS space.  Will the CVS have two entrances?  If so, is the main entrance on the corner, or in the parking lot?  Perhaps a retail lobby space?  Are we going to get actual storefront windows into the store along Skinker and Delmar, or just the usual mirrored or opaque glass?

Also, any mention of hours?  Is this to be a 24-hour CVS?

According to the drawings in the Preservation Board Feb 2019 agenda, the entrance to CVS is on the corner. There's only a pharmacy drive thru window on the back.

Hate it when businesses work around having street-facing windows by frosting or blocking them with ads. Like the CVS on Lindell.

I am trying to think of any other large retail chain outlet in the metro area where the main store entrance isn't directly from a parking lot, other than restaurants, and malls and other stores with attached garages, of course.  The only thing I have come up with is the Crate & Barrel and Jared at The Boulevard.  And, I'm not sure those even count as the parking garage is just across the faux street...

Or that (the Walgreens on Lafayette as well - or any Walgreens for that matter) .  Besides the lack of streetscape activity and eyes on the street problems, store managers also seem to be much less interested in cleaning them regularly when they aren't see-through.

"Project of the year" candidate should be infill on every commercial strip.  Looking great.

Doesn't it seem a bit paradoxical to design a building to prioritize a street corner entrance for pedestrians and a drive-thru, for the same 24-hour retail space?  Is this common at urban CVS stores in other cities?  I don't recall seeing one like this anywhere else.

Pharmacy drive-thrus must be tremendously profitable, considering the amount being spent to build one through the ground floor of this building.

^When I moonlighted as a pharmacy delivery driver a bunch of years back now we installed a drive through and immediately that took up most of our in store prescription business. Yes, they're hugely popular for the convenience and speed. (With speed being somewhat relative in pharmacy terms.)

Selling drugs has historically been tremendously profitable, yes. 😉

^"Crunch all you want. We'll make more." I seem to recall that phrase came up in relation to some local drug cartel or other. Might have been the Salisbury Cartel.
