I thought maybe Rally house just was doing this for Mahomes yesterday but they knew they no longer were going to be “Missouri’s Team” I guess.

Chiefs are still a KC team just will be playing in Kansas. Now they better hope the Royals don’t do the same or that’ll be a huge black eye not only on Missouri but Kansas City to lose both professional teams to the state of Kansas & they already lost Lockton to Kansas as well. This month hasn’t been kind to Kansas City.

I wonder how all the St. Louisans who became Chiefs fans feel now. Did their loser status just become more apparent to them after today?
Anyone been over to KCRag.com? I assume they're blaming this all on St. Louis.PlatinumBlues wrote: ↑Dec 22, 2025Chiefs are still a KC team just will be playing in Kansas. So:
- Kansas City Missouri built a downtown arena that still sits empty 15 years after trying to get the Pittsburgh Penguins
- their MLS teams plays in Kansas
- their NFL team will move to Kansas
- their MLB team might well join them

You know I was never a Chiefs fan & I lost interest in the NFL after how they did St.Louis. The only team 2 teams that I sometimes root for are the Broncos & Bills.whitherSTL wrote:I wonder how all the St. Louisans who became Chiefs fans feel now. KC is Kansas' largest MSA, STL is Illinois' 2nd largest. This is a pretty good explanation as to why Kansas funds KC more than Illinois funds STL.keepstlbrick wrote:Maybe it would just create more negative competition for downtown, but It is amazing to think about how different our region would be if Illinois cared 0.01% about metro east.
Amazing how much money KS is putting into their side of the metro.

I’ve not been over there to check out their misery however to blame this completely on St.Louis is just absurd. What does St.Louis have to with any of this the blood is on their own hands. Their local government flopped.dweebe wrote:Anyone been over to KCRag.com? Not really. They seem fairly aware that Frank White and Quinton Lucas failed to play well with the State of Missouri.dweebe wrote:Anyone been over to KCRag.com? This and a few other recent events can act as a counter to STLs City-County merger talks. It has a lot more to do with the quality of leadership than the government structure. STLs leadership developed a better proposal in 2015 with minimal mediation from Missouri than KC could with the full support of Missouri.

I guess the Bears going to NW Indiana doesn't seem so crazy now. What a disaster.
St. Louis should be building a nice, real, open air football stadium on the half torn down Peabody site immediately!

This is the best part.gary kreie wrote:Not sad to see that KC, MO, won't be asking St. Louis area taxpayers to keep pouring tax dollars into their obsolete stadium. Now that the NFL plays into February, every team needs a dome like the one we enjoyed in St. Louis during the Rams playoff years.

Within weeks or short months Blues and Cards owners will be floating plans for renovations and/or new arena to tap into Kehoe’s fund, especially now that an NFL team can’t access it.

This leaves the Royals in sweet spot to get a new stadium in downtown KC worked out however I have a hunch the Royals will likely bolt to Kansas as well if KC don’t get its stuff figured out.

Blues won’t be renovating enterprise anymore, next project is a new arena and most likely on the same 2 block area

Urban KC is in a bad bad way. Losing what few companies they have left, sports teams not interested, serious problems recently with crime and anti-social behavior. Very little is happening even if you incorporate the wider area like the Plaza etc. Even just in terms of proposals nevermind actual shovels in the ground.
Kansas City and Mayor Lucas have to deliver the Roayls to Downtown.PlatinumBlues wrote: ↑Dec 22, 2025This leaves the Royals in sweet spot to get a new stadium in downtown KC worked out however I have a hunch the Royals will likely bolt to Kansas as well if KC don’t get its stuff figured out.

STL is in an incredibly good spot for likely the next 60 years. Cardinals not moving, Blues are not moving, City is not moving. If the NFL ever wants to come back the land is ready. The NBA is the only league St. Louis isn't immediately ready for but the league could share Enterprise and a space can be found if not willing.dbInSouthCity wrote: ↑Dec 22, 2025Cardinals are already in the planswhitherSTL wrote: ↑Dec 22, 2025Within weeks or short months Blues and Cards owners will be floating plans for renovations and/or new arena to tap into Kehoe’s fund, especially now that an NFL team can’t access it.

Cards and Blues should think big. Like retractable roof at Busch big. Why not?
I think the Missouri package can only apply to Busch. In a sense, you're right. Since the City can almost guarantee the Cardinals aren't moving, the Cardinals will either have to be reasonable in their updates OR elevate the facility to a greater economic asset. I think more realistically the Cardinals pair a full BPV build out with moderate stadium updates.
According to the posters on the rag, there doesn't seem to be much optimism for this either. NKC is probably as good as it gets as far as their options and some are suggesting the Royals could leave the market entirely.addxb2 wrote: ↑Dec 22, 2025Kansas City and Mayor Lucas have to deliver the Roayls to Downtown.PlatinumBlues wrote: ↑Dec 22, 2025This leaves the Royals in sweet spot to get a new stadium in downtown KC worked out however I have a hunch the Royals will likely bolt to Kansas as well if KC don’t get its stuff figured out.

Someone else over there posted this and I think this may sum up the overall sentiment, KS fans are used to crossing into MO for sports but not the other way around.

Chiefs are going to Olathe, would be like the blues or cardinals building in Mascoutah

The momentum and most likely scenario for Royals is Kansas, but not saying that couldn’t shift.
MLB certainly wouldn’t fight too hard against a Royals relocation (3rd least valuable franchise without the potential in Miami bc of its market size and the history of the Reds). MLB would rather see the Royals in Charlotte, Nashville, Montreal, Portland, and most of the laundry list of cities looking for teams. But I’d say it’s very unlikely it comes to that.
Hey I’d welcome the come back of the St. Louis Browns at a retro built Sportsman Park at Grand and St. Louis Ave lol. Theres completely vacant land right there unfortunately

The chiefs will play in KCK while the practice facility will be in Olathe. I saw where the new stadium will be built close to 70 & 435.dbInSouthCity wrote:Chiefs are going to Olathe, would be like the blues or cardinals building in Mascoutah

I think Missouri State politics have been brutal on KC and St. Louis respectively. A big part of why MO slowly trending to AK, LA and MS vs rest of sunbelt in my opinion. Saving grace is GOP massive defense spending.gary kreie wrote: ↑Dec 22, 2025Not sad to see that KC, MO, won't be asking St. Louis area taxpayers to keep pouring tax dollars into their obsolete stadium. But would have to agree with Gary's thoughts. Funding NFL stadiums is the last place the state needs to go right now. So might very well work out for KC to get Kansas to fund its new stadium while KC/MO focus on getting Royals downtown
In the meantime, didn't St. Louis family become part owners of the Penguins? Might bode well for KC or not, any thoughts? Heck, maybe a play is in the works to get KC a NHL and St Louis a NBA team. Wishful thinking but might as well think for the better now that NFL will not be bleeding money out of MO coffers.
