I think this is going to be a shared patio. Photo from the Blue Jay Brewing Facebook page.

^That could be a neat space when it's done if they dress it up right. :) Will be interesting to see what it becomes.

I'm assuming there's a plan to replace these three structures with something interesting?

We saw a render last year. See post 59. It may have changed of course.

Not that it makes a huge difference, but it appears that the rendering is facing southwest from Locust and Jefferson. The length of the building, plus the Beaumont Building hidden at the far right, give it away.

Correct, I thought the Sam Light Loans spot was going to be a hotel. Maybe the plan changed because of the other hotels being built? Either way I'm happy to see this area get freshened up. It's crucial in seaming downtown and midtown together.

From post #13
The hotel was officially scrapped, for now at least, according to the Business Journal article.

With this area really starting to take off i would submit the idea to establish a Beer Museum in the  old Jefferson Bank (currently VA Hope Recovery Center).  I tend to frown at the idea of establishing new museums as i think the foot traffic they generate is usually pretty minor but I think a beer museum WOULD would be quite a draw and add momentum to the area.  The reason why it needs to be here is because then they could feasibly reopen Uhrig's Cave for tours and a pint.

I would personally still lobby for a beer museum in the Lemp brewery (also involving the caves)
