Public input sought for the future of old Jamestown Mall site
Inside the 145-acre lot, graffiti, broken windows and crumbling signs can be seen inside. However, developers believe the land could have a big impact on the housing market in north St. Louis County. Once the mall is demolished, 100 acres will be developable.

The big question that remains is what will be built there.
Based on feedback from a public forum in June, three options were narrowed down.
  1. Jamestown Green Estates: A set of subdivisions with solar energy, restaurants and retail space along with greenery.
  2. Jamestown Village: A populated residential area such as a senior living facility.
  3. An agriculture production facility for groups like UMSL, 39 North and Cortex.
You can give your input at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Saint Louis Zoo WildCare Park. To learn more about the site, click here.

Seems like an obvious place to put a subdivision, hopefully denser than what is usually built in the County. Can't say the other options really have much appeal.

Such BS that the tax payers will have to pick up this tab. They should make Webb’s district alone pay for the demo.

Former Jamestown Mall finally has a demolition date
The former Jamestown Mall in Florissant finally has a demolition date after sitting empty for nearly 10 years.
The Florissant community and public officials will mark the start of demolition with a 10 a.m. ceremony Tuesday, Sept. 26.

The mall, a 1.2 million-square-foot structure, first opened in 1973 and shut down in 2014. The 145-acre mall property now sits vacant at the intersection of Old Jamestown Road and North Highway 67. Several community leaders will be in attendance at Tuesday's ceremony, including St. Louis County Executive Sam Page and Kevin O’Malley, chairperson of the St. Louis County Port Authority.
The process of demolition is expected to be completed by early summer of 2024, according to a press release.
Local officials said they'll be working "to ensure a seamless transition from demolition to redevelopment."
The St. Louis County Port Authority, owner of the site, accepted a $7 million bid from South Carolina-based Target Contractors to tear down the derelict property, which neighbors and county leaders have called an eyesore and a safety hazard. In recent months, there have been two fires at the former mall – in April and in June.
