:D We are finalizing the lease and hoping for a fall opening @ 3037 Olive -
the opening will include a 72 car parking lot next to the building and no
buildings will be torn down.

Going to be a unique place where everyone can enjoy fun and great food.

I go to the one here (in KC) for lunch -- GREAT burgers & "unique" doesn't begin to describe the atmosphere... Should be a great addition to the area.

That's great news, but good lord a 72 car parking lot! I assume this parking lot was designed to accomodate more than just this establishment?

Nothing against this place but what's with the crazy proliferation of hamburger joints across the country?

You can fancy up a burger and it's still cheaper than steak. They got this recession on still.

Plus dudes and kids like burgers.

Yeah...one of america's favorite foods! Even if a person thinks they found the best burger, they are always on the search for a better one. Burgers will never get old.

What I find funny, is that so many of them make a big deal about how you can get any topping you want on your burger! Oh, you mean like pretty much every restaurant I've been to in my life?

Yes, but can you get a horseradish pepper encrusted burger with a roumalade of bacon avocado foi gras? Oh wait...I guess that wouldn't be a "burger" at all! : )

Is this still on schedule for a fall opening? I remember last year there was an article saying that a couple of chains were consdering location in Midtown Alley, Assuming this one of them, are there any other rumored tenants scouting the area?

I was lunching with my gay friend and he mentioned Hamburger Marys. He asked if I've heard of it and that it's opening in St. Louis. I said yeah I heard. He said it's kind of gay-ish. I immmediately knew I would have to try it out. We thought it was odd that a burger place could in any way have a gay slant. Well, I finally got around to googling "hamburger marys gay". He's right! Sounds awesome!

Any reason why? Just typical city BS or some sort of passive/aggressive act because it's a "gay" place?

Hamburger Mary's interior is a show stopper - really cool. They are working as fast as possible to get the place open, rest assured this place will be talked about!

also the owners have created a "charity table" where 100% of the profits (EVERY NIGHT they are open) will go to a charity of the month - another reason to support this place.

NOW OPEN for DINNER -

Starting Monday they will be open for lunch and dinner. :D

Ate here tonight. Fun atmosphere, friendly staff. They don't have the full menu available yet, but it shouldn't be long. I actually expected more burger options, but there's definitely something for everyone.

Yes. While I was out in Westhinterland the other night, I gave Smashburger a try. Nothing groundbreaking, but damn, that was a great burger! The fries with olive oil and garlic were quite delicious as well. I forgot all about Five Guys, which is another in the long line of dolled-up burger joints.

So I'm really looking forward to trying Hamburger Mary's, and I expect I'll go there more than the two aforementioned places since it's much closer.

I consider myself "progressive" and "tolerant" (whatever that means) but for some reason I can't stand guys in drag. They just really annoy me, same with clowns.

Made my second trip to Mary's tonight, and came out to find a parking ticket on my car. And every other car on the lot had one too.

These guys are gonna have a lot of unhappy customers unless they let people know they have to feed the central machine. If there is any signage, it's not very prominent.

"Family" is how many of my gay and lesbian friends refer to each other, as in "he is 'family'"

What time was it at? When I went to Hamburger Mary's a couple weeks ago I couldn't figure out if the central meter needed to be fed at all times, or before 7:00 pm. I didn't pay, but didn't get a ticket either.
