from Deb Peterson:

GOIN' LOUIEWOOD: If you thought you saw Elisabeth Rohm, the sexy star from "Law & Order," walking around downtown St. Louis, chances are you were right. Rohm, Matt Del Negro ("The West Wing") and Stacey Dash ("Clueless") are some of the big-name talent in town shooting a major film, "Ghost Image."

Producer Jeff Most has been here from his home base of LA for a couple months getting ready to make the movie, which will be shot entirely in St. Louis.

"We love shooting here," Most said Thursday. "People have been great."

The movie is being made locally because the film's other producers, Srikant Chellappa, Charles Patrick Stanley III and Kathryn Leep, are all local and raised the money to make the film here.

The film was co-written by a St. Louis author, James Dean Schulte, who died in January of heart disease at 48. Schulte, the film's director, Jack Snyder, and Chellappa collaborated on writing the movie.

Looks like Patrick Stanley is going from Lucas Lofts to motion pictures. Interesting.

They've been filming in Lucas Lofts for the last few weeks. Inside, outside, across the street, in the garage, on teh roof; you name it.

A friend of mine was an extra Wed night.

And I went to high school with the director (assuming it's the same Jack Snyder). He made a short film then that I was in.

Wow, I know Srikant Chellappa. I worked with that guy at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in STL, and I remember he always talked about doing short writes and stuff. That's pretty great for STL and Srikant.

I saw that parking was off limits on Market street in front of Kiener Plaza last Weds due to filming of Ghost Image. I was curious what that was all about.

When we have all the Downtown2007's that are required, then you become an extra.

You may be one just by walking downtown. Today as I was strolling downtown, there were signs taped to the street lamps at Wash and 10th that said:

"Movie filming going on in this area. By walking here you consent to being filmed." Something to that effect anyway.

It stars a couple TV people, and Stacey Dash? Hardly a Major motion picture.

It's always great to have films here in St. Louis, but this sounds more like a small indy feature, or a low budget studio film.

Really, Bill, with people like Aaron Eckhardt, Jessica Alba and Tim Olyphant is more likely to be considered a major motion picture, but still...not really.

Personally, I'd rather have a bunch of smaller pictures here anyway. Support the indie film scene. Then maybe we could grow our Film Festival.

This isn't going to be a huuuge picture, from what I'm reading so far, but all film exposure is good for St. Louis.

I heard the budget for this movie was very low, like in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. It may never see the light of day. BUT some of the best movies made are low budget indi-type films and it is very cool to see the film crews in and around town.

Hmmm, two films being shot here in only the last couple of months. Watch out as St. Louis is starting to make a name for itself.

"Srikant Chellappa"? Sounds like a drunk trying to order at a Mexican restaurant!

The following is strictly my opinion, and personal preference...

But I don't like it when indie features get these pseudo stars in there movies. It's clear to me that most TV actors want to do film because you can make more money, so they jump on these smaller projects to make a name for themselves as a film actor. I prefer watching indies with unknown actors much more so that somebody I recognize from the West Wing.

Getting amateur actors usually gets you better performances anyway. Or at least, more fresh performances. Recycling TV actors causes many indie films to be a little stale.

Didn't they come close to shooting part of "The Island" here in St. Louis and end up using Detroit? St. Louis would have stood in for a futuristic Los Angeles.

mmmm Scarlett Johansson

I'm sorry; what were we talking about?

Need a good drinking game?

Watch 'The Island', and do a shot for each product placement in that movie. I promise you you'll be hammered by the end of the flick. Cadillac, MSN, Michelob...and those are just off the top of my head.

This movie has a website with a trailer. Some decent shots of downtown in the trailer, including multiple Washington Ave. shots and some Kiener Plaza shots.

Speaking of product placement, US BANK has got to be loving that first photo posted above. Movie looks pretty.............um......., but I'll rent it just to see STL on film. Awesome. Rohm is super hot too, used to love her on Law and Order.

Was it really necessary to lay out every detail of the plot in the trailer? I did like the shots of St. Louis though. Is the story set in St. Louis or is St. Louis being used as a backdrop for another location?

Looks like a B+ movie.

I'll check it out for the local flavor.

Some of those effects looked really horrible.

I have higher expectations for Kingshighway.

Did anyone see the new Black Hole movie from 2006, I don't think I will be let down by this in comparison. Still I will support anything shot in the STL.
