Happy to see some Loop activity slowly creeping north on Skinker. Eventually, the whole WashU North campus should be redeveloped.framer wrote:This long-vacant single-story building just north of Delmar is undergoing rehab. No idea what's going in, but it's good to see it come back to life.
Thought this parcel was owned by Wash U. There goes my hope for dense TOD on this site. Why Imo's would have no dine-in at this location is baffling.quincunx wrote: ↑Jan 13, 2022A single story drive thru no dine-in Imo's is proposed for the southeast corner of Delmar and DeGiverville. They purchased the lot in May. Does anyone know if the SDCC took any action on supporting the variances it needs at the meeting Jan 10th? Was the meeting held? I tried to attend, but the neighborhood events calendar and email disagreed as to the time and platform.

The last significant proposal SDCC considered was a 14-story, 140-unit, 327-bed mixed-use apartment building. It will be interesting to see how they approach the polar opposite.quincunx wrote: ↑Jan 13, 2022A single story drive thru no dine-in Imo's is proposed for the southeast corner of Delmar and DeGiverville. Wow. Wonder if Joe is trying to get STL "known" brands in the mix. Ted Drews next? Ride the Trolley and experience all the STLisms. Imo's/Delmar should at least have a slice window or preferably a walk-up counter (with outside seating). If it's strictly drive-thru I'll be flummoxed.quincunx wrote: ↑Jan 13, 2022It was owned by Joe EdwardsSTLinCHI wrote: ↑Jan 13, 2022Thought this parcel was owned by Wash U. I know of at least two: TGS and Oakville. Domino's also has several.PeterXCV wrote:Does Imo's have any drive thrus presently? I've never seen a pizzeria like that.
There is a patio for outdoor dining right next to the drive thru.STLinCHI wrote: ↑Jan 13, 2022Wow. Wonder if Joe is trying to get STL "known" brands in the mix. Ted Drews next? You order online/app and pick it up with your car. So I guess instead of idling in the drive thru, you'll idle nearby waiting for the notification.PeterXCV wrote: ↑Jan 13, 2022Does Imo's have any drive thrus presently? I've never seen a pizzeria like that.
Wow that sounds so bleak.
I know Oakville and Hampton both have drive-thru pickup windows, but I don't think you can place the order there like a Jack in The Box classic fast food style. I've called to place orders for pickup and then drove to the window before though.PeterXCV wrote: ↑Jan 13, 2022Does Imo's have any drive thrus presently? I've never seen a pizzeria like that.
I’m surprised non of the SD NIMBYs haven’t blown this development up. There should be indoor/ outdoor dining.quincunx wrote:If you're not a fan let the SDCC and Ald Clark-Hubbard know. If it goes to the Board of Adjustment let them know too.
This goes against the Delmar Link redevelopment ordinance (no drive thrus and lack of indoor dining), the Neighborhood plan, the TOD plan, the draft form based code. And maybe current zoning too(I need to look into that again).
It won’t take their precious parking so they are cool with it.Mapguy wrote:I’m surprised non of the SD NIMBYs haven’t blown this development up. Ouch. Turning down 14 story residential and approving pizza drive thrus. There goes the “we don’t want more cars around here” argument for the 14 story residential. Frustrating.quincunx wrote:The SDCC voted to support the Imo's at their Jan 10th meeting.
Makes me wonder if they'd support a proposal for a Church's Chicken on the SE corner of Delmar & Skinker.quincunx wrote: ↑Jan 13, 2022The SDCC voted to support the Imo's at their Jan 10th meeting.

This is exactly why I emailed them as a resident to put me on every development committee possible. We can’t trust them to make good decisions so we (if you live in the neighborhood) have to get involved and get on these boards. The decisions being made are very short sighted and often times selfish.chriss752 wrote:Gotta love how backwards the organization and it’s members are. Shoot down a great apartment proposal by a developer that gets stuff done by calling WashU students “transients” then turns around and approves an Imos Pizza, which will almost certainly draw transients and beggars.
