The real downside to natural immunity - risking death to get it.
That, and you (royal you, not you specifically) could just get vaccinated at literally any f**king Walgreens, CVS, Schnucks, Dierbergs, Walmart, whatever, a task which will consume about 20 minutes of your life. How in TF has this become a freaking political thing?

Sorry, not mad at you, just venting.

This is largely irrelevant at this point because most healthcare places are lead by sane people who have enacted their own mandates way before federal gov.

Plus this. https://thehill.com/regulation/court-ba ... ne-mandate

It's become a political thing because people don't have trust in our institutions. Rightfully so I think.

It really is unfortunate.

Portugal has a population of 10.1 million people. Nice comparison. US population is 330 million. Goofy stuff.

Omicron Unlikely to Cause Severe Illness in Vaccinated People, BioNTech Founder Says

Some good Omicron news.
“Our belief [that the vaccines work against Omicron] is rooted in science: If a virus achieves immune escape, it achieves it against antibodies, but there is the second level of immune response that protects from severe disease—the T-cells,” he said.

Hopefully that winds up being true, but that statement has to be tempered by a very contradictory statement made by the CEO of Moderna...

https://www.washingtonpost.com/health/2 ... nes-covid/
Moderna’s CEO predicted Tuesday that existing coronavirus vaccines would be much less effective at combating omicron compared with previous variants of the virus, spooking financial markets in the United States, Europe and Asia as scientists rush to learn about the new variant.

Stéphane Bancel told the Financial Times that it would take months for pharmaceutical companies to manufacture new variant-specific doses to address omicron, as public health officials and vaccine makers worldwide examine the tangible impact of the largely unknown variant. The spread of omicron in South Africa, which was among the first countries to identify the variant and is preparing for a potential surge in infections, caused Bancel to suggest that existing vaccines might need to be modified in 2022.

“There is no world, I think, where [the effectiveness] is the same level … we had with delta,” Bancel said, referring to the highly contagious variant that was first detected in India in late 2020.

Early Israeli data points to good vaccine efficacy in those that are boosted.   I doubt it will be 90% once more is known but vaccines will hold.

CNBC: U.S. confirms nation’s first case of omicron Covid variant in California

It's someone in San Francisco who just flew in from South Africa...

What's the over/under of the first case in STL? I'm going to say Wednesday next week, 12/8.

Get your booster shots, y'all.

Mine is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon at Walgreens online. My girlfriend got hers a few days ago as a walk in at CVS.

Did a walk in at St. Louis Hills Pharmacy on Chippewa. The pharmacist is a friend of a friend. It's a pretty simple operation, probably mostly delivery, but it was clean, the staff was pleasant and skilled, there was no wait, and they had plenty of stock. And you can't argue with supporting a local business.

Second U.S. omicron case reported in Minnesota - some guy who just spent 2 days in NYC at a convention at Javits Center. Gonna be a ton of people who were likely exposed. Yikes.

White House is now mandating private insurance companies to fully reimburse their customers for the cost of in-home test kits. I assume there will be a limit on the quantity of tests per customer that insurers are required to cover in a given amount of time (otherwise some people would probably start hoarding the things).

Good call.

And now we have five cases in New York state. And another one in Colorado. Looking like your one week prediction for STL is going to happen.
