Not sure if funding is solidified for the Sandcrawler or not but they are moving at a much faster pace than I expected. Possibly faster than a real sandcrawler.

^ Project is backed by Ventas, a $21BB REIT focused on healthcare-centric developments. I'd say funding's pretty well secured.

And yeah, that Sandcrawler site's definitely moving at a good clip. I had no idea Jawas were that efficient.

^^There is a drilling rig on the site of the garage expansion as well, so it looks like it is all going up at the same time.

Anyone find a webcam for this project yet?  Interestingly, you can just barely make out the sandcrawler construction site in View 5 of the City Foundry construction camera, which now makes it one of five active construction sites in that one webcam view...

^ 8 Stories. Judging by the renderings, it looks to be slightly over 100 feet with the slope of the roof.

10 floors! And it gets rid of that horrendous concrete wall on Duncan. I can’t seem to find who the architect is on the project.

It's 9 levels above Sarah St., including the ground level space on the east side, plus the facade also extends up to screen the roof on the east side.  The top two levels will be lab space with higher floor-to-floor heights, so I'll guess the top of the Sarah Street elevation will end up around 125' ± 15' above Sarah.

Ok i thought it was 10 floors as the biz journal had previously stated. So it’ll have some height to it which is nice.

^^Looks like they're going all European on us, calling the second floor "Level 1" and the first floor "Level G".

In Europe, the ground floor is 0, and each level up is an increment of 1, and levels down an increment of -1. I rather liked it.  I always knew where the street level was.

We should probably split off a thread for the Sandcrawler in one of the CWE forums. This is going to be our next big construction project until we get another announcement.

Looking at actual site elevations and this rendering a bit more closely (assuming it is an accurate representation of what is being built) I think this will be taller than I thought.  4220 Duncan (shown in the background) is 75' tall, and Duncan Ave. slopes downward 10' between 4220 and Sarah St.  That would make the top of the Sarah St. elevation of 4210 Duncan around 140' above the street.

For some perspective on how tall that is relative to the neighborhood, the silos of the grain elevator across the street are 150' tall.

Do we have any indication of what the yellow/orange material will be? Warm, flat earth-tones, or bright, shiny metallic? Corten steel, maybe? Terra cotta?

Anyone know if they secured any tenants for the sandcrawler, if so, Who?  I think St. Louis/CORTEX would be a great way for Microsoft to quietly build up a satellite/Midwest campus.  Add square footage and jobs until someone realized how big of the presence they have become'.  Especially with Square making a move downtown.

^ I haven't heard of tenants but it certainly will be interesting to follow... also on who takes over the considerable space square will be vacating before too long.

As long as they don’t take away from downtown.

And assuming there will be a lot of lab-tech space in this building, it should be significantly taller than your average 14 story building, likely over 200'.
