Again, I'm a little miffed at the strategy here. I understand the deep connection Joe has to his father who wore STL on his sleeve. But how does this mesh with the Taskforces' goal?

The way Joe sounds reading through the lines here, it's as if he knows it's coming, not just threatening.

More mixed messages, yet Peacock remains solid:

^ That is pretty interesting.... maybe there is a bit of good cop/bad cop going on here. It also isn't inconsistent to the thought that the Rams are gone but there is decent confidence on being next in line for another team. Who knows.

As for that non-sourced rumor above, it does sound plausible as it's a mixed-message and not particularly fanciful. And not wanting MLS competition, etc. that could potentially lose Kroenke profits definitely seems his style... it also underscores my fear that the City will give in on subsidies and all profits from parking, naming rights, blah, blah, blah will go to him as well as perhaps amusement tax revenue.

^^ I think you might be overthinking Joe Buck's comments. Does he talk to Peacock? I'm sure. But I don't think this was something calculated. Although many are simplifying it to "Joe Buck returned to twitter to bash Kroenke," that's not really accurate with his timeline.

He came back to Twitter, and then a little bit into it shared those opinions. I really don't think this was part of any greater PR campaign, and I really don't think it does damage to the project.

Joe Buck is a proud St. Louisan. Despite being the narrator of the video, he is NOT part of the task force in any formal way. He's just a proud St. Louis public figure, and he was sharing an honest opinion.

It just seems to be a disadvantage to have the voice of the video playing for all the owners be the same voice that is so critical of one of their own.

Dave Peacock is a proud St. Louisan also, one who likely understands the business facets of this mess better than Buck. If Dave's stance has been to avoid calling out Stan, I trust there was/is good reason for taking that route.

I saw this on Friday, but do not have full access. Anyone have a clue why Dave Peacock is "more confident than ever" these days?

I think the stadium on Saturday night, being so empty really hurt the perception of the fanbase. I know it is only preseason, but the Raiders & Chargers stadiums were way more full. The Dome looked like a crowd for the Missouri High School state football championships or worse, since the crowds were so scattered. It is sad what Stan has done to our fanbase. I bet the regular season games will be just as bad, avg. 40-50K if we are lucky. I heard a lot of seats are being given away. I'm sure KC fans will flock here. It will be a sea of red in dome, to match those wonderful red seats that make it look emptier. It should not matter what attendance is for a perceived lame duck season, but the NFL & Stan are grasping for reasons to rip our fanbase, in our 'dying city'.

And Bears fans when Chicago comes to town.

On a positive note, that's probably at least 2 sellouts for the season, FWIW.

^ It could be brutal and sad if they don't get off to a good start. Pump off a few good victories at the start and things should be okay barring any clear setbacks on the stadium front.

I thought Shady Jack's was removed from the footprint a long time ago?

Yes, I should have said "shady jacked" -- that is the treatment Al's wants.

I actually think one of the bright spots of the stadium clearcutting of the north riverfront is the fact that it will create an opportunity for Al's to move somewhere a little more connected. I'd like to think they could make a go of it on the Landing, or Wash Ave.

They should pay a fair price for the property though that covers the cost of acquiring another piece in a neighboring area and include money for relocating the business. I'm actually surprised they've been able to hang in this long...

I am generally impressed:

"The HOK team also sought to build parking that didn’t look like asphalt lots. Its solution? Design grass lawns that can support vehicles."

"Then, as HOK looked at the street grid, railroad tracks and bridges, they saw something else:

“What it started to do was create all these plazas and open spaces,” Hoisington said. The current stadium design, he said, adds 21 acres of green space and more than 38 acres of public space.

HOK has added a bike trail west of the stadium, just in case the Riverfront Trail floods. It imagines riparian corridors to catch rain runoff around the railroad tracks. It hopes groups can hold events in the new spaces.

Perhaps, Hoisington said, stadium restaurants will stay open year-round.

“People say it’s all parking,” he said. “It’s not!”"

It all looks good, but I no longer need to be sold too much on the design (though all improvements are nice). It's time to see financing details and get it ready to go. Things are not sounding positive, and that's the only shot we've got.

David Peacock sounds upbeat as ever. Until he starts to sound worried, I'm not gonna worry.

I always liked how Dodger stadium parking lot was sloped such that you could essentially park about level with your concourse. This looks similar with entrances at multiple levels along the slope to the river.

Good article from 101 ESPN radio. Bernie has Peter King on yesterday. He admitted that he has no clue what the outcome will be, but if he had to bet, he thinks Inglewood and the Rams prevail. He acknowledges the outcome is unfair to STL, but states Stan's "NFL Disneyland" concept is the most appealing the NFL and gives them the best chance to succeed. Bernie pointed out that Carson is now offering the NFL the extra space to add their studios, HOF, etc.

The field at street level and having to go up to all seating levels is one of the worst features of the Edward Jones Dome

Such baloney. In fact, the Carson plan had already incorporated the space for the NFL studios, a HoF wing, etc. as had been demonstrated in their August presentation. They had it first.

Looking pretty good. Everything looks a little more streamlined, perhaps just more detailed. With financing in place, I don't' see how the owners turn their backs on this. It also seems like Peacock wouldn't have recommended such financial lengths to come up empty.

Is the 3 story brew pub in the stadium or separate?

There's some sort of event/rally/press conference taking place with the Task Force at the Missouri Athletic Club parking lot 45 minutes before the game (6:15 start for the rally) tomorrow.

The Mayor will be speaking amongst the others.

This was just announced at like 2:30 or something, so I'm not sure what exactly it will be. If it was intended to be a rally of support that should have been announced days ago. Is there an actual announcement of some kind?

Or is this just a last minute "hey let's do something with the fans walking into the game" sort of thing?

I suppose all of the above still stands, but when I posted this, I thought the game was tonight...

^ probably just an attempt to get people pumped up about the project and avoid the visual disaster of the Rams first game... whether fare or not, they need to get a stronger storyline together.
blzhrpmd2 wrote:Is the 3 story brew pub in the stadium or separate?
good question. Someone pointed out in comments at nextstl that the Union Electric building may no longer be part of the plan. Its just speculation, but there was no mention of it in the Post-Dispatch piece and it was prominently featured in the earlier renderings... details are nowhere to be seen in the new renderings and it looks like the gathering spot is now the huge video board on the west side of the stadium.
