Now that is an owner who reinvests the fans money back into their city. What could have been.
To put some context on the Jacksonville shipyards development. The city has been trying to develop that property, stretch of river front going back to the 80's. They had some immediate development just downriver of the Jacksonville Landing but pretty much stalled at the old shipyard (With the coffee smell of good ol Maxwell House factory behind it and believe a city jail not too far away) back to the stadium for years.
.
In hindsight, It appears that Khan would have been a better deal for St. Louis but will know for sure when Rams are packing for LA. That guy not only bought into a team. He bought into the region and has shown himself to be a class act to Jacksonville ever since.

Earlier today, State Senator Silvey filed a measure to prevent the bond extension without a legislative vote.

I wonder if Mr. Nixon will be prepared to address this tomorrow in his press conference.

It doesn't mean anything. It is just filed. IF it does past the legislature he can veto it and pass the bonds before they override his veto.Greatest St. Louis wrote:Earlier today, State Senator Silvey filed a measure to prevent the bond extension without a legislative vote.

I find it funny that Western Missouri politicians are up in arms about this. KC built an NBA arena WITHOUT A TEAM. lol Some real sucka sh*t.

Silvey bill has a slim chance of impacting this....the timing is too late and im not sure if it can even be applied to existing bonds...
And people on this site wonder why St. Louisans dislike Republicans in the State Legislature so much.

I have no problem with the Silvey bill. The Legislature should be involved in approving long-term financial commitments. Nixon has cried for years about the need for cutting back on HTCs as hurting the budget yet has no problem extending significant stadium bond payments for decades. Personally, I think there is justification for the state to approve the bonds, but the state legislature should have a say on it.
This assumes that the State Legislature will act competently, which it is almost certain not to. If this bill actually reaches the amendment process, someone is going to slap a 32 year abortion drug test waiting time on it.roger wyoming II wrote:I have no problem with the Silvey bill. KCstar article basically telling public to watch this deal and make sure their tax money does not go into this deal. I think most in Missouri always seem to forget that the STL region is the economic engine in Missouri. I understand KC protecting their side of the state and it's tax dollars, but I'd bet there are ulterior motives there. We all know that many in KC, love to see St. Louis fail.

^ The editorial basically says its okay to keep the same level of support for a new stadium but the deal shouldn't be overly generous. There actually is the possibility that the state (and local) bond payments might not even need to be $12 million/ yr. if they can be refinanced at a competitive rate.
Which kills me. I don't think St Louisians want KC to fail. If anything we should be working together. The stronger St Louis and KC become the more power we have in Jeff City to make progressive plays in this historically backwards state.DogtownBnR wrote:KCstar article basically telling public to watch this deal and make sure their tax money does not go into this deal. ^ again the editorial is saying tax credits issuance plus a continuation of the $12 million or so in state payments is fine so it is not attacking a reasonable funding plan.
In my dream world Slay (of whomever replaces him) has a monthly meeting with the mayor of KC to work on mutual agreements to work together and fight back against the Missourah legislators. If they want to meet halfway, I'll pay for their pizza at Shakespeare's.robertn42 wrote:Which kills me. I don't think St Louisians want KC to fail. If anything we should be working together. With today's (and last week's) press conference, it's pretty exciting to see the mayor, governor, business leaders, and organized labor all publicly united behind this stadium proposal.
The biggest hurdles remain financing and land, but every time they win another ally to the cause, those goals seem like they should be easier to achieve. In a town like St. Louis, I especially don't think the clout of the unions should be underestimated.

I'd assume this means we'll get some of their lobbying assistance in Jeff City?Greatest St. Louis wrote:With today's (and last week's) press conference, it's pretty exciting to see the mayor, governor, business leaders, and organized labor all publicly united behind this stadium proposal.

The Rams just cancelled to large promotions events. FanFest which a lot of the NFL teams have and Cheer for the Cure an event for cancer.
http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/2/19/8 ... t-canceled
This is clearly a reaction to the news today from the Task Force. There is no movement in Inglewood so Kroenke had to do something. Demoff is on twitter looking like an idiot saying they didn't cancel the Cheer for the Cure event just the half-time show........The half-time show is the event lol.

Let the games begin..... The Raiders/Chargers deal seems like a direct response to Stans play to LA. It just seems like this deal is less likely to happen then Stan's deal. I think the fact that both teams would be putting this deal together makes it a possibility, but to me it seems like this is just a move to get the ball rolling in their respective cities.
^ I think it could happen. If they don't get deals in their cities by the end of the year. You get two teams in LA, then California keeps 3 NFL franchise. The NFL is also in a nice position to lick STL for another sweetheart deal. Funny this comes in the wake of Nixon giving away the farm in the past few days. I honestly don't see the Rams moving at this point and if they do, one of the California teams will get a free pass to a riverfront stadium. I think the NFL has already told St. Louis that if they build a stadium they will have an NFL team. I think that's why they are trying to speed up construction. This things a go!
It is beginning to look like those that predicted that this whole kerfuffle was just a way for Stan Kroenke to extort 350 million dollars out of St. Louisans might be proven correct. Man, talk about getting played. I find myself shifting towards hoping that the stadium proposal on the Northside does not go through.
