Well, I sent Marlene Davis yet another mail.  She's going to have a busy week, that is, unless she's like Ingrassia and ignores five emails in a row.

Would be a perfect spot for a 4-6 story residential building

My personal boycott of Quik Trip is getting harder and harder to keep, as they just keep building more and more locations.

You mean so more people can live near work/school and not have to drive? That might be bad for (some)  business.

If I’m reading the District redevelopment plan and city zoning code correctly, a gas station requires a conditional use permit in the “H” Commercial District. Seems worth it to contact the Alderman and St Louis Midtown Redevelopment Corporation that residents are opposed to allowing a CUP for a gas station in this location, and we want a higher and better use for this high profile spot

This property at 3527 Chouteau, formerly For Sale, now has a permit application for the existing E.J. Welch carpet store building to be turned into a Walgreens Pharmacy.  3537 Chouteau next door also has or had a NAIDESCO For Sale sign on it (from Google Streetview), but doesn't look like it has sold yet. There is a coffee shop shown on Google Maps at 3537 Chouteau, but not sure if it's really a thing...?

Anyway, the suburbanization of the Grand/Chouteau intersection continues...

I'm a little surprised they didn't sign Walgreens as a tenant for Iron Hill.

I think Iron Hill is trying to land a Target/CVS, and that that's going to be the make it or break it deal.

So nobody wants to see CVS and Walgreens show up at the same party wearing the same dress...

New build on Vista Ave-

We are building a new home with UIC on Vista Ave and have been told that our construction permits would take 9 weeks to be approved by the city. Is this normal? I know with Covid that things could move slowly, but this seems extreme.

Seems long though not out of the realm of possibility. The building division says the average permit issuance time is 31 days this year up from 19 days average the last two years. I'm guessing that's due to many fewer small projects.

^Also welcome aboard! I don't remember if we have an official welcome thread, but . . . I'll say it here. Hope you enjoy our collective obsession with bricks and I look forward to hearing your own story about life in our fair city. :)

Also, just for the record, we had luck (from a timing perspective) just walking in and talking to the plan reviewers at the city.

I mostly lurk, but I wanted to say 1) @mends1 Welcome! And 2) @pattimagee I think you might have just come up with the best possible subtitle for this forum: "A Collective Obsession with Bricks"

This is very tempting, especially with all of the extra time I have on my hands nowadays! Thanks!

Granted, when we walked our way up there, times were less complicated. 😅

There's a daily date of 3/3/21 for 3619 Lafayette. Could be that QT or SLU has bought it.

Maybe they'll turn that into their state of the art Urban Taquito Research Facility™ at SLU Med.
