^They have definitely started foundation construction on the Alamo Drafthouse, as there is a drill rig on that site now.

Incidentally, there is a great view of the CWE skyline on View 5 of the Foundry construction cam.  It's too bad that patrons won't get to see it, since the food mall area is really down in a hole relative to everything else.

Patrons will see a similar view when on the Fassler Hall outdoor beer garden deck.

From the main Foundry Way the view is obstructed by the existing Crescent building/soon to be Alamo building.

Is there a site plan in this thread anywhere?

This was posted awhile back, there is one in this article.

https://www.stltoday.com/business/local ... the-latest

Keep in mind, that is from well over a year ago, and things have changed since then.

Just ignore the Phase 2 site in orange.  Everything else looks accurate.  Fresh Thyme will be in the building on the NE corner.  The tan rectangles directly south of the garage are new, small retail and office buildings.  Fassler Hall and the food court is in the main Foundry building south of those, with the outdoor mall space and elevated walkway in between.

Won't that view be mostly obscured by the Alamo Drafthouse though?

^ Add some future mid rise mixed use development along Vande and the view obstructed more but probably a more desireable long range outcome

You have to like the look of a rising One Hundred with the tower crane.  Another tower next door will be a nice tough.   When all said and done I do think you could have a bustling/people watching scene down below you with glimpses of the downtown skyline in one direction and a couple nice high rises sticking above Alamo Drafthouse in the other direction.   Not a bad outcome in the future.

Do we have any good, honest representations of what this thing is gonna look like from Forest Park Blvd. and how interacts with the street? This is the best I can find, and frankly, this looks like crap:

From this StlMag article, I’ve come to assume the surrounding built environment and pedestrian accessibility aren’t priority. They’re goal was to remove any interaction with the city.

https://www.stlmag.com/dining/city-foun ... lining-up/

“Safety and security were prime concerns while planning the complex. “The primary access is off Vandeventer, from the same access point as IKEA," Smith says. "We own the street that leads into the development, and we control the 1,000 parking spaces within, all above grade... I compare it to IKEA. There, people know they’ll be on a private lot and that it’s secure and well-lit. In other areas of the city, you typically have to cross a public way to get to your destination. We’ve taken that out of the equation.”

This is the same model as before.
Drive in & Drive out. Destroy our roads, speed, make racist remarks, but thanks for the $0.50 sales tax you spent on a small pretzel.

To be clear... in no standard measurement of a successful city is 1000’s of above grade parking spaces (especially when close to mass transit) deemed a success.

No, that's the only image I've ever seen of the north elevation.  And unfortunately, that is not what is being built.  Instead of a surface parking lot, you will see the top level of the parking garage from Forest Park Ave.  The garage structure is in place now, and looks like its going to slope up from 5', to at least 16' above the street grade towards the west end of the garage, maybe more if it has a decorative screen.  And to the right on that image will be the back of the Alamo Drafthouse.  Combined, there will be a 700' stretch of solid wall along FPA, pretty much unbroken except for the parking garage entrances.

On the plus side, the building on the left will be the Fresh Thyme storefront.  Hopefully, the storefront will look better than that model...lol  Im afraid they will put the entrance on the west side though, facing the garage, and have Walgreen's-style "windows" facing the street.

Alamo doesn't go any further south than the Crescent building and the height is comparable towards the south. The larger theaters will block the view to the Standard though.

Is that surface lot going to go away with future phases?

They are building a new sidewalk along the purple line and i noticed they set up the parameters before pouring concrete that had light poles literally in the middle with like 20 inch clearance on either side (ADA is 36-48inch)  so i took a photo and put it up on twitter-  an engineer that works for the firm that designed it saw it and send out someone to go look and they said the contractor didn't follow the plans- it has been corrected since.

What surface lot?  The surface parking lot across Spring Ave.?  I'm not sure that that is still in the plans.

I think they're misreading that north elevation (model?/render?) as a surface lot rather than the open top level of the parking garage.

Any news at all on other retail tenants for this?  Not even a rumor of a LOI?  Everything on the CityFoundry website is food, beverage and/or entertainment-related.  The only tenant listed in the directory under Shops is the Fresh Thyme grocery store...

^Sounds interesting, but ugh, there's a coupla Ratz in the kitchen...  🙂
Ukraft, which serves healthy breakfast and lunch items, has opened at the Regions Centre in Clayton.
Brothers Mike and Matt Ratz first launched the concept as a food truck late last year.
The Regions Centre, 8182 Maryland Ave., is Ukraft's first brick-and-mortar, though a second location at City Foundry is set to open in 2020.
"This was an opportunity we couldn't pass up," Matt Ratz said. "It's a perfect bridge between the food truck and City Foundry."

That was fast.  The steel structure is complete for the east retail building already.

I really hope some street enhancements are part of this project or planned along forest park parkway. This stretch is dark and sad.

The GRG trail will be along this stretch, and will go north to SLU and south to the Armory at Spring and Forest Park Parkway.

Very nice! Will this be part of Phase I or is this planned for much further into the future.

^^I thought the Greenway trail was going to be on the old / rebuilt train trestle?  I saw they demolished most of the portion that goes through the Foundry, but I assumed it would be rebuilt...

Phase 1 I believe.
The trail is going through the site. The trestle will be rebuilt, it will snake in between the Alamo and the west side of the garage and go north to FPA. Once it hits FPA it will turn and go east in front of the garage towards spring, where it will split north to SLU and south to the future bridge across the highway to the Armory.

^So, the Greenway trail will pass through a dead, uninviting block-long space between a garage and the wall of the Alamo Drafthouse, and then turn east and have to cross two, presumably very busy, garage access ramps...
