Update: Drone project updates will cease on Twitter and Facebook, and UrbanSTL will see them once in a blue moon, moving ahead. I'll keep them on my private Facebook group (playing favoritism). Even then, it will be at a reduced capacity.

As I begin another year of college, and look into transferring, I'm pulling back on some of my "duties" of keeping people informed and in the know about what's going on here. I'll keep the project map and my Facebook group maintained, but in a reduced amount than what it has been. I'll be leaving it up to others to keep people informed. Operating my website has become too complicated and expensive, so I sold it off but still have access to it but it's still too much. We're considering turning it into an archive and leaving it at that.

There are plenty of brilliant minds in St. Louis to keep people informed moving forward, whether that be new projects, construction updates, project openings, open houses and more. The same people also have the capability to create engaging conversations. I just no longer feel that it's the correct path for me to continue taking at this point for a variety of reasons like...
  • Conflict of interest. I work with a small real estate developer and advise a few other developers on their projects. Being in the know about things in planning before the public is a cool thing but blogging about projects and knowing about others isn't the best thing in the world.
  • My views on St. Louis have soured significantly over the past few years. A yearning to return home coupled with a devastating event in my private life has made me want to return home more than I have previously and with every month, that feeling gets more intense. That's the reason why I'm considering transferring colleges for my remaining two years, to be back home and, in a way, start over.
  • Public opinion on development projects in St. Louis has shifted rapidly to the point where the way I see projects is almost always different from others, mostly because I see it from the developer standpoint and not the other way around, which bounces back to conflict of interest.
  • I'll be 21 this week and want to reduce time on social media to both make money and enjoy life as much as I can based on my current situation and health. Keeping my CityScene STL up to date, traveling around town for drone updates, keeping in touch with developers, having a job, restarting college, dealing with health issues, taking care of family, and hanging around with friends, I just don't have the time to slow down. Cutting out the social media, CityScene STL stuff (including drone and developer discussions) frees up time for me to focus on the things that matter more.
  • Debating people on social media is a waste of time, so I'm just not doing it anymore. People can b*tch about whatever but I'm not engaging in it. I have more important things to do. Having a blog like I do, and being vocal about some things like I am, you run into this issue often. Sometimes I post things to purposely anger people to get a reaction (examples: complaining about Tishaura Jones, Cori Bush, and Gerard Craft, etc). Although most of the time, I don't always believe what I put out there. Sometimes I do, but not always. For better or worse, it's meant to stir the pot a bit.
So while it's a bit sad for me to say this stuff, it's for the best. I've learned a lot over these past 6 years about the development process. I've created numerous professional connections. I've been able to be in the know and share stuff as I can. I'm truly grateful, but it is time to move on.

My last drone updates on CityScene social media, and the last on UrbanSTL for a while, will focus on the City SC Stadium, 4545 Laclede, Verve, AC Hotel in Central West End, and the Debaliviere Projects. Those will come either today (Saturday) or tomorrow (Sunday). I'll eventually review where to go with everything after that point and make a hint decision with the new CityScene STL owner.

Good luck to you, Chris.  I'm surprised you kept at it as long as you did. Other things in life are always much more important than maintaining a social media presence. I hope you'll still keep in touch here, and make a comment whenever the mood strikes. Remember, it doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing choice; take some time and find your middle-ground.

Not doing this will make your social media a million times better. 95% of the time you aren’t going to change peoples opinions and they aren’t going to change yours. So don’t waste time with debating.

Good luck to you in the future. I hope you start feeling better.

Here's a cool video I did flying between the Expo buildings.

And for my last picture, here is my favorite view of the Central West End from the sky.

UrbanSTL users, it's been a pleasure sharing photos and projects with you all over the past few years. As I said before, I look forward to seeing other creative and engaged minds come about. The one thing I've learned here is that there are people out there willing to take a swing with the new people on the block when it comes to blogs and what not. And as people look into the blogs, some stick around and others leave. It's all part of the process. Same with a return. While what I'm doing is a break, it's an extended break. I'll continue linger around and will answer personal messages if I get any, but really, new posts from me on this forum are coming to an end for a while.

It's been fun and great, but now it's time for a break.

Love, peace and chicken grease, never sweat the small stuff. Chris Stritzel out.

Hey Chris you’ll be missed greatly. While I’m not on here much I do like to check in on comments & new developments & I have to admit you made it very exciting. I appreciate your compassion, passion, enthusiasm, love for St.Louis. I agree it’s easy to get burned out & lose interest seems like there’s more rooting for St.Louis to fail than succeed. Either way be well be safe & most of all enjoy life gotta take care of you first.

Good luck, Chris. You've made a difference here and elsewhere and you need to keep your health, your family, and your own life in balance to do anything else. I wish you luck in whatever the next project might be. What Framer and JShank said. I know we all tweak each other from time to time. And we all get passionate and worked up about this stuff. But you're leaving this forum and this city in a better state than you found it. Thank you for that.

Not Chris' drone, but a drone in the city. :)
