I work at Cementland. It's an incredible place but it will take a minimum of 2 years to finish it up. There is still so much to do before the really creative stages can begin.

I get to see Cementland every time I fly home to St. Louis. OK, so I can't see much detail from the air, but this place is huge and there's obviously continuous activity/changes going on.

From the looks of it, a little less than half the property is located in the City of St. Louis (most appears to be in Riverview, in the County).

^ Apparently that's worked to Cassily's advantage to this point - it can be unclear who he needs a permit from (or so some may claim).
Drove past this yesterday, first time in 2 years that I have been by.
It is starting to look like something, still a way to go I am sure, but they have graded out the lower sections and a fimilar "turtle" is starting to take shape around one of the buildings.
This project is now almost 10 years old and still have not heard what the final product is going to be, but I can not wait to see it

Nice timing on your question. Happened to be at City Museum today and talked about this project with the guy working the 10-story slide. Definitely take what he said with a grain of salt because who knows how much he actually knows...
He confirmed that the project will be a waterpark and said it would open in 2 years. Far more interesting: he said that they are waiting for the Mississippi to flood enough to bring in a 7-story cruise ship that will be parked somewhere on the site. Apparently waiting for those floodwaters is holding some things up.

Makes no sense. If the Mississippi floods, then a seven deck ship wouldn't fit under the bridges.

Cementland is just north(east) of Maline Creek and not behind the floodwall.
yea but i really doubt that a cruise ship could get under the bridges on the mississippi with the river flooded.
I am also really eager to see this project. Hopefully it can be a tourist attraction and help turn around nearby areas.
