$172,650 building permit issued for a new 2-fam at 7612 Vermont
$172,650 building permit application submitted for 7616 Vermont for new a two-family.
Is that a two-fam each at 7612 and 7616? Or a two-family spanning the two parcels?

Those are really small lots, so I'd imagine one building spanning both.quincunx wrote:$172,650 building permit application submitted for 7616 Vermont for new a two-family.

I'm also pleased to see the stabilization in the Broadway federalist row. They put in new balconies and seem to have some other work ongoing. That's really nice to see.

Not at the moment, no. I'm in Vietnam for the holiday. In a couple of weeks when I get back I'll try to remember. There's still a lot of work to be done. It's just some basic stabilization. Not even really sure who's doing it, but the work on the balconies that were collapsing is pretty obvious. (And I'm having this sudden fear the row is Italianate, not federalist, but the one on Broadway that burned.)

This two-family is now listing. Frustrates the heck out of me knowing that SLDC/LRA would not sell such a vacant lot for redevelopment with its bizarre policy established last year requiring 4,000 sq. ft. But it would sell it to a neighboring owner for $100 as a side lot.quincunx wrote: ↑Jul 08, 2023$172,650 building permit issued for a new 2-fam at 7612 Vermont

Looks like they want to replace the whole block. The main building is only about 10 years old.

Construction to start in November and last 1 year. Total cost is $10 million, 28 beds, 30,000 square feet.
The city' Conditional Use Board must approve it before construction begins.

Even QT's donations destroy old buildings.
The irony of donating to an addiction treatment center when their business depends on dependency.

There’s so much vacant land along this stretch a real shame. Doesn’t appear they will be held to any architectural standard
Carondelet has just been destroyed by property owners looking to destroy buildings to sell the land to gas stations and unhoused groups living in neglected buildings. It’s such a shame. Could have been a little old world jewel on the riverfront but it’s just lost too much

Reminds me of Bayer/Monsanto investments in the botanical gardens initiatives to protect threatened and endangered plant species, plant species who are threatened/endangered due to Bayer/Monsanto’s businessquincunx wrote: ↑Oct 21, 2025Even QT's donations destroy old buildings.
