Better yet, build car tunnels and let pedestrians and cyclists stay at the surface. Looking at which mode of of transportation has to duck under or jump over the other is an indicator of which mode planners prioritize.

Elon Musk was going to build tunnels in Chicago until a delegation went to see his tunnels in Vegas and realized how stupid it was, so Lightfoot killed it

Boy, I didn't need to go to Vegas to realize it was stupid. I suppose having an open mind got some folks a work trip to Vegas.

A rich city? No it isn't.

Sorry if pedestrians and bikers mess with people driving.

There are multiple tunnels under Lake Short Drive (by Soldier Field, by the Ohio Street Beach and Oak Street Beaches

This police surveillance device showed up in the bike lane right by the soldiers memorial recently. It's too bad. That lane is really great but it's blocked by this kind of thing and full of broken glass in places.

The city is working on designing a protected cycle track along Hodiamont that would run from Delmar to the old interurban tracks.

Says construction is supposed to start this Fall...not sure I believe that.

Revisiting Bicycling in Minneapolis: One of USA's Top Bicycling Cities

Minneapolis makes me so damn jealous, but also optimistic. They are a pretty similarly built city to STL which gives me hope that one day we can catch up on bike infrastructure.
